If he can get hits like that last one he will get 56. Man that should have been caught

If BDC didn't archive this Williams vs. DiMaggio debate from three months ago, we could have bumped it back up to the top and saved everyone doing this all over again.

Alibi Ike, why the need to start a thread that is designed to initiate a pizzing contest between Yankee fans and Sox fans. Many on the forum are very skeptical that you are indeed a legitimate Red Sox fan. Are you really a closet Yankee fan who is starting a thread that your Yankee buddies will flock to? The DiMaggio hitting streak was discussed into the ground on a thread a few months ago and we grew bored by it. Let's stop beating dead horses. As a Red Sox fan why not start threads that Yankee fans have no interest in.

It worked Ike. Kudos to you on initiating another worthless pizzing contest. Babe loves this stuff. He lives for these threads.

The FA market for Ellsbury will be determined by the player statistics, owners and GMs, and the agents ans players, what is available (supply), $$ available (demand), and the media. The pretender from Charlotte, NC will have zero input or influence.

The 56 game streak is definitely something that will be broken eventually.  Everyone acts like it's so out or reach but it's definitely doable.

Try following UR own lead. Ike can't win with you. He lauds Pedey and you accuse him of NY allegiance. If he questions Tito, you bring out your basher noose. Ike is exposing you for your pathetic wanna-be cop routine.

You have some nerve accusing him of Boston/NY board division. You live there.
    Grow up.

Anything is possible but to say that it's definitely going to be broken is laughable at best.

If anyone can break Joe D's record, its Pedey. What do you think? Does he have a realistic shot?
    Posted by Alibiike

Love Pedey, but he hasn't a snowball's chance in hell.  It was easier back then when pitchers nearly went the distance.   Now with all the guys coming out of the bullpen hitters rarely bat against the starter more than 2 or 3 times.

Better believe it! He is "Pedroia the Destroyer" and a bad motha. No pitcher in the majors relishes the thought of pitching to him.

If you believe in odds of about a Billion to 1 coming true (as I've posted in detail the past), then you may be on to something.

Taking nothing away from Dimaggio he did win the MVP because then everyone loved a Yankee; my how things have changed since then.

Sorry pea brain, but neither was Dimaggio, who was also a skin flint; or do I need to repeat the "Frank Sinatra portrait" story?

Im surprised that the Yank didn't mention he didn't reach 3,000 hits. Maybe cause he was serving his country for what how many years?

I must have missed the part where Williams was the only player to serve in the Armed Forces.

Pedroia isnt having his best year but it's quite good and shows he's not a career high flash in the pan year like Ellsbury.

Glad to see you were able to get another dig into Ellsbury though quite pointless.

Naive Odds of a .300 hitter batting lead-off who averages an unofficial AB (Walk, Sac, etc) every other game to go on a 57 Game Hit Streak:

    3.3244965 * 10 e -9 or roughly 3 out of a Billion
