The game is far from over, but with the way we have been swinging the bats lately , we cannot afford to give up any more runs. Very impressed with the Pirates closer last night.

[QUOTE]Hey, hold on a sec.  That's not what I meant.  This game is far from over. I was referring to my first post in this thread, RE: Wake's ERA. Although now that I think about it, I can see that the way you read my post is probably the way it would come across to just about anyone.  My mistake.

In Response to Re: 6/25 Game Thread: Wakefield vs. Karstens:
[QUOTE]I love that MLB blackout restrictions deem that I'm somehow in the Pittsburgh market when I'm three-and-a-half hours away in central Ohio. I never have Cleveland or Cincinnati games blacked out, both of which are less than two hours away and both rarely are at half-capacity. Yet, games in Pittsburgh, inexplicably, are blacked out.  Thanks to MLB for looking out for us fans that pay your bloated salaries. It's just not enough for MLB that I've forked over roughly $200 annually for a decade to watch my team play. I now realize that I'm simply not able to handle the entertainment that you provide on a full-time basis. For my own safety, I must watch baseball in moderation or face unknown consequences. I sincerely apologize to MLB for having higher expectations for your services than you wish to deliver. My bad!!

That's pretty bad, I agree.  I pay $99.99/year for 1,200 games on the web....incredibly good value (I was back home in Boston last week and my brother tried to persuade me to buy 4 monster tix for $150 each....I laughed in his face, and even harder when he called me "cheap").

They need to improve their service, clearly, but it's hard to be all things to all people.

Do you think Ellsbury could have taken a better route to that ball.  I know Softy will have something to say about it, but what do y'all think?

Another Saturday, I'd like to enjoy the off day, but I know Wakefield is pitching. After all these year I know Wake is either going to stink, or do a half way decent job. He stinks today.

    Please Mr. Wakefield consider retirement.

Farthest thing from it.  I'm the guy who stays til the buzzer sounds in a 30 pt blowout, or til the final out in a 15-0 drubbing, because, you know, just if something happened, you'd want to be able to say you were there!

It drives my family and friends nuts when they want to get a headstart on traffic.

Now, I'm also that guy who always sits through the credits in every movie just so he doesn't miss anything... so maybe it's a fundamental, non-sports-related personality trait.

This is getting ridiculous! They may wake up, but right now, the Sox are being totally outplayed by these secon-level NL teams. It's like they're just going thru the motions on both O and D.

Girardi yanked Burnett after 4 runs ... Tito leaves Wake in after 4 runs and guys on 2nd and 3rd.

Ok .... lets just give these games to the Pirates and go out for a beer.

Screw it, PD just made an error.  Time to sit back and hope Gonzo gives us some entertainment, this is ugly.  The good new is Gonzo and Youk are coming up.

Plenty of time to salvage this game.  But not with Wake in there.  Please call Girardi and have him yank Wake.

it seems like does well the first or second time through the line up but then they just wait on that slow pitch.

It's not good to give a team like the Pirates any hope that they belong in the same league as the Sox - or pretty soon they start to believe it.
