[QUOTE]Not much you can do with Cameron except hope that he comes around. He might well be washed up. There is no trade market for him at this time.

It's still the first half of the season. That's when you look at your team, see what the weaknesses are while giving guys a chance to play through slumps. With the Sox right there at the top of the East, there's no reason to make rash trades.

By the time July rolls around, the prospects have had more at-bats in the minors, you see what players are on the market for trades and if you have to eat a salary, it's just a half year.

I hope Drew and Cameron come around, but if both are scuffling in another month, we'll see changes for the second half of the season.

Say what you will about Theo, but he's done a decent job with mid-season trades (and non-trades).

I think Bard should be good for one inning.   The failure to get more innings from the starters has been a problem, lately. Depending too much on the pen. The more relievers you use, the more the chance that at least one of them will not have it.

Lackey pitched well, didnt know what to expect. hopefully he can build on the start. as i type the runner comes around from second to score.

Re: 6/5 Game Thread - Anderson vs. Lackey

In his first start back, Lackey was fine for the most part. Just three hits in 5.2 is very good. It would be excellent if one wasn't a home run. And adding two walks to the mix isn't too bad, either.

If it wasn't for the three hit batters, it would have been even better.

Albers giving up the hit will take away from Lackey's line. 2 ER in 5.2 IP isn't that bad. 3 ER in 5.2 IP, not quite as good.

But overall, a decent first step.

[QUOTE]Freediro, apparently Terry has stated that Lackey would be limited to ninety pitches.  Give him a hand.  He did his job today.

He definitely looks much better and showed positive signs, if it wasn't for the hit batter and Albers giving up this double he would only have 1ER.

This also shows our pens problem with inherent runners lately. Hopefully Albers can at least keep the 2 run lead.

    OK, got out of that.

Let's get some more runs to make sure Lackey gets the win.

Lackey pitched decently. I would not exactly give him an A. Of course, the bar has been lowered as to what constitutes a good outing for him.

Lackey: I felt and pitched as well as I ever have

Lackey getting paid 1.3 million every month, priceless.

Could use a couple more runs. With the shape our pen is in, it will tough to get nine outs and hold the two run lead.

Re: 6/5 Game Thread - Anderson vs. Lackey

Brett Anderson came into teh game with a 3.68 ERA. The Sox ripped him for five runs in 5 IP and now his ERA is up to 4.00.

Yesterday, the Sox ripped Trevor Cahill for five ER in 7 IP. His ERA now is 2.65, so it was even better before the Sox battered him.

It seems like I've seen this a lot this year. Yes, the Sox have been shut down at times, especially early. But there have been quite a few pitchers this year that have faced the Red Sox with great ERAs, and the Sox have pummeled them.

Some time later in the week after I get a work project done, I might take some extra time and try to create a list. I think it will be impressive.

I was going to say will Pedroia ever steal bases with his foot issues and then this happens, glad to see it. But why is Crawford stealing more?

Now watch Youk make another out.

I might have to look it up but it seems like Ortiz has led off innings a lot this year. Maybe it's the spot in the order or Youk's struggles early.
