Wake is hanging too many knuckleballs.  This lead is not safe, by any means.

Re: 7/6 Game Thread: Romero vs. Wakefield

From MLB.com regarding Lester & Buchholz:

BOSTON -- The Red Sox won't take any chances with ace lefty Jon Lester, who underwent an MRI on Wednesday for a strained lower lat muscle on his left side. Even before those results were in, the club already decided to place him on the 15-day disabled list.

The club is hopeful Lester can return to the rotation on his first day of eligibility, which would be July 22 at Fenway against the Mariners. (Note: This is two weeks from this coming Friday, not the Friday following the All-Star break/not next week.)

"We were actually planning on possibly skipping him on Sunday anyway and having him come out of the chute last just because of the load he will carry," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "This kind of makes this a no brainer. I already talked to him today. He didn't put up much of a fight so I think it's the right thing to do."

To replace Lester on the roster, the Red Sox recalled right-hander Scott Atchison from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Already, Boston is without starting pitcher Clay Buchholz, who is on the disabled list with back woes and underwent a second opinion on Wednesday, results of which haven't been disclosed yet.

Great play by Navarro, and what a throw! For a moment I thought it was Beltre over at third.

One more inning for Wake, or is he done? What say you? I say one more, save the pen.

Just looked at the radar, Don's right. There is a butt load of rain headed right for Boston. Truthfully, I wouldn't mind seeing this game called now. Send 'em home, save the bullpen.

Because of the last two days, I tend to agree. I say he stays in until a batter reaches. Then make the change.

Would like a couple of additional runs here just to be safe(r)...

I like this Navarro. Think he may well turn out to be better than the heavily-hyped Iglesias.

Well, that went nicely! Solid outing by Wakefield. This another of softy's nightmare games. Wake in line for the win, key hits by Ellsbury, Drew and DMac.

Aceves is supposed to pitch Sunday. Would be best not to use him tonight.
