    Re: 71 games

    As I said on one of my own threads titled   X + (X + 20) = 162  ........

71 is the number of total loses the Sox will have this season.

This wll be in no small part due to Papi's production  :)

    if X = Sox loses

Sox wins WILL BE  .........   91

Pretty damn good season.   THANKS PAPI :)   :)

    So what is Papi now?????

I guess I will throw a bone to a few.

For those keeping track of Ortiz's production against three great pitchers.

    No show against Colon.

    No hits againt Lee

No hits last night against CC Sabathia

Remember:  "Good hitters hit bad pitchers, great hitters hit good pitchers"

Great pitchers usually will beat great hitters, especially if they are LHP vs LHH.

Thats not throwing anyone a bone. Thats sticking to your guns and not admitting that Papi is doing a lot better than you imagined. We will see where papi stands in a couple months. If hes still hitting 300 with almost a 400 OBP and 600 SLG (or at least a +900OPS) will you change your tune? we'll see.

37 games and 155PA and hes still looking good.

in case you missed it, Papi is doing better then I expected but there are still some aspects of his game which I am correct.

It seems like you are insinuating he cant hit good pitching. He can.

Great pitchers like CC and Lee will usually beat a good hitter most of the time, especially a LH one. Not the other way around.

how did your prediction go last night? Am I making anything up or in your eyes did Ortiz hit off less and CC? Sorry If you get upset with my posts, you seem to get upset a lot.

    I see.

So, if Ortiz doesn't hit EVERY good pitcher, EVERY night, he's not worth his contract.

Can you show me a hitter that does do that?

You don't know nearly enough to upset me, skippy.

    Amusing yes.

    Upsetting, nope.

I figured Fourb's would be running to this thread.

Ortiz comes up big last night and it is the first time I have seen the Ranger's coach make a mistake in a while.  I would have taken my chances on Dustin.

Ortiz's homer will make fourb's forget that david went 3-13 against texas.   Last night's homer makes up for the previous night when david went 0 for 3 in a game that the sox really needed his help.

The bottom line is Ortiz is still a threat, just not every game and not against every pitcher.

If it hadn't already been bumped, I wouldn't have bothered.

    LOL

Sorry, but you're not smart enough to know what I'm thinking about Ortiz, or any other subject, for that matter.

The Sox DIDN'T need the HR last night? Is that what you're trying say?

"The bottom line is Ortiz is still a threat, just not every game and not against every pitcher."

I'm still waiting for you to give me the name of a player that is.

I'm betting you continue to ignore the question, instead of admitting you can't come up with one.

    I'll help you.

There are only three players with a higher OPS and as many games played as Ortiz this year.

His OPS is over a thousand. What are you complaining about? You are actually point out single games in which he goes 0 for 3?

This is one of the more bizaree threads on a forum that is known for its bizarre threads.

Sorry jack, but theres no way your for real trying to defend yourself in any way shape or form. 100% wrong on all accounts. Lets just admit it and move on.

Papi is one of the best pure hitters in the game. One game samples. Complaining that he doesnt hit all the great pitchers all the time. seriously? You are reeking of desperation trying to be even remotely right. Best to cut your losses. Papi looks healthy and is having another great season so far. Its making the 2yr deal look like a very good move to this point.

    In response to jackbu's comment:

How many men did he leave on base last night?  I counted 4 and the double play he hit into gives him 10 for the year. Great walk off but the game should have been won before the bottom of the ninth.

If you are truly serious, your making a fool out of yourself. Like I said, Best to just cut your losses and admit you were wrong about papi.

The best offensive players in baseball are successful 30% of the time. Papi is certainly one of the best. You can say the same thing that you said above about any player in MLB history. theyve all gone 0-4 at some point and left men on base. This is getting to the point of being sad.
