    A Balanced Attack

We now have all 9 batting order slots with an OPS over .700.

In an age of declining offense, I think this is pretty remarkable.

    Last year we had this: 9 slot .612, 7 slot .651, 1 slot .673, and 8 slot .700.

The Tigers also have 9 slots over .700.

We have 9 players with over 230 PAs and an OPS over .750 (10, if you count Iggy).

Last year, we had just 5 players with 230 PAs and a .750 OPS.

The Tigers have 7 players over .750 this year.

It gives me great pleasure to watch that team turn into a bunch of hackers.

I have NO REPSECT for Hackers.

Even our bench guys (CARP) has far better AB's than anyone on the entire 230 million dollar squad.

God I asbolutely LOVE Cashman - he should get a voted a World Series Share!

    Looking at the means:

                               Runs Scored                     Runs Allowed

    Boston        5 (3 gms from 4)                3  (3 gms away from 4)

    Detroit        5 (2 gms from 4)                3  (7 gms away from 4)

    Oakland     4 (right between 3 & 5)      4  (1 gm away from 3)

    Re: A Balanced Attack

So as long as we score more runs than the other team we will win?

Looks like we typically score 5 runs a game while holding the opponents to 3.

In the post season deduct a run on each side........

We have scored 812 runs in 157 games this year, and have a mean of 5.

In 2011, we scored 875 runs in 162 games, but had a mean of 4 due to 33 games scoring over 9 runs, but 85 at 4 or under.

This year we have only 75 games at 4 runs scored or lower and just 23 games scoring over 9 runs.

    Less lows and less highs...

    ... more balance!
