HEY SUNSLAVE, you ever post anything w/o the word TROLL in it? you're nothing more than a run-on sentence that's been running on much too long. oh, and andrewmitch, don't tell me i'm misguided; makes you sound like some kind of prophet or, worse yet, a priest. thought to dwell on: if all the people in the world were ATHEISTS, there would be a lot less wars and other acts of human brutality, including terrorism.
You didn't answer the question. As usual. No, you provided no details on "allocation of resources", which is complete rhetorical nonsense. As for "Mistakes were made in other administrations", what were those "mistakes"?  And why didn't OBL get that trial in a civilian court? Why is Gitmo still open?  Why haven't "allocation of resources" been used to capture or kill Zawahiri?
    Posted by BaseballGM
1)Osama was given the option to surrender; he chose not to.

    2) Gitmo must stay open until the cases are disposed. Unless you think we should just open the doors and let them out.

    3) I assume those resources have been allocated. That they haven't produced results doesn't mean they haven't, and since they got the #1 one would think they're working on getting the #2.
In Response to Re: A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR NAVY SEALS & MEN & WOMEN IN UNIFORM & UNDER COVER!!! : I agree with your post Calmy.  Justice was served in some way with the killing of Bin Laden.  But I find all the celebration and cheering very weird.  It makes me uncomfortable.  I cheered for one thing yesterday, and that was Crawford's walk-off single.
    Posted by SpacemanEephus
While I can understand the knee-jerk celebratory reaction to word of OBL death, I tend to agree with you Spaceman.  I tend to recoil from the whooping it up!  This not to say that he (OBL) didn't "deserve" to meet this ultimate justice!

Again, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!!  To all the brave young men & women of the military & Intel. community!

Clinton: Several opportunities to kill OBL squandered.

Bush: Too many to mention, but most importantly diverted resources to Iraq.

Had absolutely nothing to do with the OBL special ops and intelligence mission, even assuming your meaningless "diverted resources" rhetoric means anything.

Now, Obama said Gitmo would be closed because it violated civil rights and these people deserved civil trials. Needless to say, that was simply campaign rhetoric that was completely baseless.
The cheering is over the top. I also think that the effect of eliminating Bin Laden is overrated since much of the terrorist movement may be of a grass roots nature. We need to figure out what makes a terrorist become a terrorist since one isn't born a terrorist. I am very much against terrorists since it is a cowardly manner of trying to change things. I just think we are pulling up a stubborn ground cover that will grow back in another week. It would be better to attack the problem at its root cause - whatever that is. There are others who partake in terrorism such as those in Russia. Killing innocent civilians to promote your cause is always a cowardly act.

Always cowardly.  But widely used, by almost all countries and countless movements, and throughout history.

We also need to figure out what makes a public policy socialist a public policy socialist since one isn't born one.

Anyone notice how pitiful the "resources allocated to tracking high profile terrorists" assigment to the Obama administration is about the most pitiful empty rhetorical politcal pandering a droned mind could mimic.............
It's not about whether it was a tough call. Here's a question: Why do you think this took 10 years? Someday you'll learn to think critically. You failed to answer the question. Zilch. Why did it take almost 2 and 1/2 years? You will never learn to think critically. Obama had zero to do with this mission, which was completely the work of people who pre-dated his administration. Now, why hasn't Obama "allocated the resources" to bring justice to Zawahiri? Bad news for you - Regardless of how significant Obama's role was, (IMO at the minimum, he was involved on the perimeter), he shall get the credit; and it shall help him in the polls, and his re-election chances. But you have bad taste; you should have given credit to our country, and left it at that, at least for today.

What makes a terrorist? Well people waving American flags and Bush/Cheney signs upon hearing of Osama's death is probably a pretty good recruitment tool.

Space - Again, depends on your definition and more importantly who is doing the defining...property was damaged therefore there was a "damaged party"......what about the people who were at Bunker Hill?  What about the people who signed the Dec of Ind?  That would be like telling the IRS today that you don't owe any money and to p-ss off and yeah they'd say you are a "domestic terrorist"....I think you get the point......

What about Americans who lived below the Mason-Dixon line during the 1860's....were they terrorists?

Bin Laden "declared war" against Americans and Jews.  We call it terrorism because he was not attached to a country, even though 9/11 was carried out almost entirely by Saudi national, but 9/11 was truly an act of war.

Yes, but, even without quibbling over the meaning of a word, by definition, terrorism implies striking terror of some kind.  I would not include the Boston tea Party under this umbrella, because, with the exception of perhaps a few dock workers or something, the act didn't exactly terrorize.  Just made a point really, and in that way, it was just a protest.

Bunker Hill was another matter.  It was a massacre.  Was it terrorism?  Now this is a debatable point that i am into chewing on.  Indeed many acts of war can be construed as terrorism.  It is a tried and true approach to warfare.  Shock & Awe.  In that sense, terrorism is always called out through a very subjective lens.  Which, I believe, is the point you were trying to make.  I agree.

It is estimated that 3 million(some estimates as high as 5 million) Vietnamese civialians were killed during the U.S. invasion of Vietnam and the instability that followed. I don't believe that accounts for the deaths in Cambodia or Laos.

It is amazing what we are able to sweep under the rug and/or justify in the name of America.

anyways, i am sure this recent "killing" will do a great job covering up the mess that this nation has become

Killing is in quotes of course because there will be no body as it was conveinantly buried at sea

Also, does this mean that the War on Terror is over now?  Never gonna happen.......

Wow!  You simply won't stop!?!?!?!  You honestly have a compulsion to put your foot in your mouth.

It's sad, that someone can take this occasion which is clearly a time to thank our brave troops, & equate our FOUNDING FATHERS& their actions in the persuit of LIBERTY with TERRORISM!!!!!!

Since you seem completely unable to distinguish the difference between these GREAT MEN (our Founding Fathers) and Islamofacist - Massagonistic Theocratic TERRORISTS, let me try to enlighten you........

Our Founding Fathers wanted TRUE liberty......... The Constitutional Republic which you earlier harped on (apparently without much knowledge or thought).
They went to war & fought honorably for that Liberty.  They never advocated the indiscriminate targeting of innocent civilians or the brutal & savage beheadings of said civilians.

The Islamofacist Terrorist to whom you equate our Founding Fathers
seek to take over the entire Middle East, institute a Completely THEOCRATIC government & subjugate the rights of ALL NONE MUSLIMS, WOMEN & GIRLS!!!!

PLEASE STOP!  Every time you say something it gets worse & worse!!!!!

those are your words (and you keep twisting mine and make inane assumptions w/o any real basis) - I never gave my opinion of the Founding Fathers but it should be obvious what it is

the point is that our Founding Fathers would be considered terrorists based on our the US's current definition....that's the point....you just want to continue to try and bash me and make personal attacks.....and you are missing the point.....

by the way, you mention the innocent murder of civilians.  were any innocent civilians murdered by the US military during the war on terror?
