     In 2005:

                               Jeter

    1.  range               -19

          UZR                -13 2

    2.  Assists relative to expected avg: Jeter 40 less

    3.  Total of hits past shortstop position:  Avg. 487,    Jeter 522.

    4. Out of zone plays (fanGraphs):  Jeter 26

Jeter 5 gold gloves, HOF SS, voted top defensive AL SS 5 times.

Bill James is a fat version of "Rainman". He also said that Hermida was going to have a solid OPS.

moon - O relcutantly agree re: TBR. Not going away. Darn 'em.

Would be embarrassing if they beat us out for the Division or the WC, after all the retooling we did.

But let's worry about that in Sept.

Buchholz could be a big factor in the team turning it around.  It was very impressive when he stepped up to give them 5 good innings wrapped around that rain delay last week.  Then next time out he throws a gem against the Yankees.

If one of 2 of the Rays starters get hurt it could be  problem for them but overall they look strong. The Garza trade sure looked risky but they got Guyer and Chris Archer back in that deal with one or 2 others if I remember correctly.
Short term they probably lose in that trade but long term they win IMO.

They knew they had Hellickson, so the Garza trade was made just in time. TB seems to have a knack for timely dumps of players who go on to decline.

Blatant lies continue by the gnat.

Managers and coaches do not watch tons of film on other team's SS defense. Scouts do.

Nobody ever said Hermida would have a high OPS. I said it was a good gamble at a low risk/cost, since Hermy did not even have a guaranteed contract and could be dumped at anytime at no cost. The absurdity continues.

Hermy did not do as wll as I expected, but I never expected greatness. BTW, Hermy's sample size with Boston is smaller than Jed's last 315 PAs. Why does one count, but not the other?

Don't answer. Nothing new has been said by you since you said an AGon trade was a 50-50 chance.

    Wrong on Jake
    Wrong on Jed
    Wrong on Wake
    Wrong on Ped

    Wrong on Mauer
    Wrong on Gonzo
    Always so damn sour
we all wish you would just go

    Wrong on Papi
    to the minors you said
    Wrong about me
    due to your swollen head

    Wrong about BHall
    Wrong about Oki
    Wrong that Jed would fall
too blinded by hate to see

    Wrong about the AGon trade
    50-50 was your bold call
Jake & Jed to the NL grade
    No extension until the fall

    Wrong on the Mauer deal
    $16-18M was your call
when he signs for more we hear you squeal
    "I called it all!"

    Wrong on VTek and CERAs
Too proud to open your mind
You cling to old & absurd forays
trying too hard for just one "find"

Hating and bashing so many Sox
    Pretending to be a fan
    Thinking you are a fox
    But never avoiding another ban

Racist, fascist and ad hom attacks
Pretending to be knower of the word
You stab a third of our player's backs
And we all see you are all too absurd

Jeter's 5 gold gloves mean more than "nothing". You need to be a man and own up to it, so you can move frome delusional to realistic.

A lot of people thought the Twins couldn't afford Mauer. There were people that stupid. You most certainly had to be one of those who bought that bill of goods, as a sucker is born everyday.

I don't know the poster you are on a tirade about, but one has to be a complete fool to come on a message board and call someone a "racist" and a "fascist". Are you Howard Dean or Obama? That's the playbook of the Democrat Socialist Workers Party.

So, since you have decided to call me a racist and fascist, with no basis, I think it's fair to deduce that you believe in pandering socialism for Democrat Party control and playing the class warfare cards of "racist" and "fascist". That's really clever, there, Castro.

Maybe I'm getting old, but this is getting real tiresome....attack, accuse, attack, accuse, attack, accuse, attack, accuse, etc., etc., etc., etc.

There used to be a lot more contributers here.  Anyone ever wonder where or why they're not here?  For one, I miss my friend jid..an ex-catcher..in my opinion, had some good catcher insight.  There were many more here who I just can't remember their names off the top of my head.

Pretty soon...if not there already...this thread will lose a lot more contributors and diversity.  It's a shame.  It really is.

Like I said eons ago, with all the 1st round picks Tampa has had during their lean years, they're bound to be strong for a while.  Eventually, it'll level off.

Moon, just saw you mention your TB thread....sorry for the redundancy.

Tried to get more youtube video of the Yankees / Redsox fight down on the farm yesterday. There is another video there ( beyond the one on Boston.com ) but the cameraman was using a cell phone or something he couldn't zoom with. Brandon Jacobs put their #1 pick in a head lock wrestling hold and he was helpless after that point, stopping the fight. I wouldn't want to be there if Jacobs started swinging but maybe he was under control, as it looked that he was. He just stopped the fight. Wasn't even ejected.

I never got the posters who were willing to diss Youk's fielding abilities at 3rd, he has been nothing short of stellar the past two games and most of the season.

The Yankees could use about 6 more straight losses, that should break an over-the-hill mentally fragile team for good.

Ha, I came in tonight to celebrate and hear all this crap from the past.  I'll keep saying it:  the most successful strategy would be to ignore and not respond to you know who.  Go Sox!  The pitchers are doing it and the whole team is playing well.  Let's go for three!

It was great to see Gonzalez put another dagger in the Yankees heart tonight. He must be putting fear in their minds already. Nice time to go on a HR tear!

And it's fantastic to see Beckett beat NY again in Yankee stadium with a dominant performance over a highly motivated and able Sabathia. The Yanks have to face Lester tomorrow and then Price. Couldn't wish it on a better team.

i thought Girardi arguing that pitch so much was ridiculous. Was he watching all the calls his guys were getting? Hello!
