all the man does is go out there when the whim blows and does his job, thats called high character. dont care about the past, to be up with pride to perform as he has is a testament to the man. lester couldnt do it, een buch has been unreliable with his health. dempster has ='d dumpster for most of the year. dube? ha! lackey? ok, he's in the discussion but again, with both health and consistency has had some moments. ace wants to be a starter, should definitely hae that consideration once dube gets shelled in his next start. either trade him or put him in the bulllpen or hae him work on stuff on pawtucket. we need more ace. . if not this year, then the next one. or for the playoffs. cant think of a more worthy and valuable guy right now!

Only problem with your analysis is that at present Doubront has a 3-hit shutout going into the 8th inning with an 82 pitch count.

Exactly why worrying about one or two bad starts is foolish

You seem to have forgotten every single bad thing that Aceves has done this season as well as conveniently forgetting every good thing that Dempster, Lester and Lackey have done. Would just like to remind you that Aceves gave up 17 ER in his first 5 games this season.

As for Doubront being motivated by fear of losing his job to Aceves, that's just a ridiculous assertion and actually quite disrespectful to what Doubront achieved tonight.

All that said Aceves has been great in these three spot starts and as long as hes doin that and not imploding then he deserves to be on the team

I don't know about MVP, but he sure has been great in his last two starts and exactly when his needed him to be terrific.
