wouldn't be too sure. With Morales and Breslow most likely to end up starting the season on the DL i don't think anyone from the BP will be moved until they get back. and even then we can shuffle guys around to make everyone fit. I don't think they move Ace unless they have to and/or are blown away from a trade. When used right Ace is too valuable. -

Sorry Bill. Aceves has already proven that he can pitch for this team when he is put in his correct role: long relief and spot starter. The Red Sox do not have enough good pitching to be trading away guys that are good at it unless we get equally good pitching in return. Aceves should be going nowhere this year. -

Agree, pumpsie, unless there's an ongoing issue, that hurts the team more off the field than helping, on. Think they'll start the season with him and see how it goes, from there -

Ace is going through growing pains ... like most of us, I think.
1) Excellent first year, which produced IDEAS in his/our head(s) that there might be even bigger and better things ahead.
2) The seaosn form hell, with BV and disconnection with coaching - esp. pitching - and no desire on BV's part to develop or support. The team became dysfunctional instead of snapped to attention. We are all reeling from that to some degree .... He was totally mishandled.
3) Took it on the chin ... and other places ... for his country in the recent World Cup games (whatever they are called) only to find folks think he's a basket case ... now has the chance to regain his highly respected place we had of him in the 1st year ... and maybe more.
4) An asset, if we handle things well. Time for him to know we know and help turn his hyper-personality into a hyper producer. No need to cut bait. Let's go fishing!

So you want to take arguably the best starting pitching prospect in the system, who BTW has never pitched above AA and put him in the ML bullpen? Brilliant. Sometimes your baseball acumen astounds me Bill. -

I don't know, how about:Mortensen
Tazawa
De La rosa
Webster
Morales
It seems that Mortensen is getting a recent start for a reason to me.

Spot on. Over the past four years, there probably isn't anyone in MLB with the type of record he has in 2+ inning outings. He is such a huge weapon in those 5-5 5th inning games, when he gives you 2-3 innings, and the other guy is going 1 inning at a time.Plus, Bill probably doesn't realize that we have two RPs likely headed to the DL. I'd trade anyone for the right price, but anytime a guy is more valuable to us than to someone else, we have to keep him.

Agree with you. Even though Aceves can be difficult sometimes he is a good pitcher and I don't see him being traded.
