Why would we send Doubront down? Why would we bring Mortensen up? -

I don't see Doubront going down after one bad outing. -

Doubront is not what is wrong with this team. The troubleis that they are just plain CHEAP !!! If you are going tofield a squad including Byrd, Saltalamacchia, Punto,Shoppach, Repko..who are basically the dregs of themajors....then you will lose. Punto, Shoppach, andSalty just can't hit...period !!! Saltalamacchia is nothingmore than a AAA level catcher. The guy just cannothit. Forget the occasional single or lucky homer. Whatyou saw in April is what you get ! With Youkilis hobbled, and Ellsbury and Crawford out for an extended period, the club will founder and settle in the cellar, no matterhow good the pitching is. Adrian Gonzales absolutelystinks as a "big" bat. He scares no one. Even Ross ismore dependable. Papi is our one big bat. That's itin a nutshell. With the exception of Pedroia and Papiand maybe Ross and Aviles to a lesser degree, it'sa minor league squad. You will not win or stay outof the cellar with this squad. -

Joebreidey - Want to doubt me on this? I got Mortenson right, I got Middlebrooks right and Cook is the third.
Why would they bring Mortensen up? They need a relief pitcher. -

Doubront is out of options. He may go to the bullpen. Or maybe Bucholz to the 'pen. -

ADG wants to cut everyone after a bad game. Look at this thread "DFA". He has very little patience. He also doesn't know that Doubrant doesn't have any option and that there is a waiting time to be recalled after being optioned. -

Doubront is not going anywhere....... (maybe the pen, down the road) Cook pitches saturday for the 126, 6.2 inning FAT-CAT who needs another day...... Interesting for sure !!! -

Hey Bill, as I read it he is not only getting a day + a day for offday but will not start until his next scheduled day. So about a week between starts. This does not deal with Buchholtz: terrible numbers and supposed blister on Sunday. Meanwhile the bullpen is getting overused as starters not going deep enough. When the pen starts to implode what all the blame they get. We are in deep popo without a major shake up and blockbuster trades. -

Doubront is staying in the rotation, and Cook is taking Beckett's spot. -

I think for Doubronts 1st year as a starter, hes doing great..Just needs to be a little more efficient..I dont see him being put on waivers (out of options) or in the pen.. -

Given the fact that starters only pitch every 5th game, why not DL Beckett come Saturday retroactive to his last start. He really would only miss two starts and it would give the Red Sox a better look at Cook, Buchholz and Doubront. -

One reason is because it is not a smart idea.
Beckett is the Soxbest pitcher right now, like it or not. Since his first outing, he has turned in 4 straight quality starts with an ERA of 2.93 and a BAA of .221.
If you think Cook is going to do that, you might want to check your calendar. Cook hasn't had 4 straight QS since July, 2009.
For all the whining about this team, if Beckett is injured that is a majopr concern. Were he to be disabled, over 50% of the payroll would be on the DL. -
