Is it too late to trade Drew for Iggy?
Drew makes play to save the game and Iggy makes error that cost Tigers the game! We have the right SS.  Drew got more RBIs this year than Iggy will get in the next three years and Drew played great defense.
I think Manosome is the illegitimate son of ADG and Geo.  He doesn't have their ability to predict disaster for every single thing the RS do, but he certainly shares some of their traits.
Your slipping Breidey. I demand being included in that exclusive group.

Fact of the matter is that we just beat a GREAT team. Think about it: Scherzer (the consensus CY award winner), Verlander, and Sanchez who had the lowest ERA in the AL this year. Add to that Cabrera who is the best offensive player in baseball this year. I think we did it because our SP kept us in almost every game until we could get into their bullpen, and against our pen, that was a mismatch. Kudos to our SP except Peavy who shat the bed. He still will be heard from.

Another missed opportunity...good news is we're making Scherzer earn every out A d we're putting some good wood on the ball..

Nice post. Long game and we will find a way. I predict Vic makes up for it this game.

3-0 in games started by Scherzer and Verlander. Thats getting it done.
And 1-2 against Sanchez and Fister.

Would have been a tough matchup with Verlander the second time around if it went to game 7, kind of glad this way.

You try your best, you you slip into lucidity far too often.  Maybe if we draft a pitcher with our first pick, you can criticize him for being a bad outfielder.  Then maybe you can be grouped with them.  Heck, even Manosome doesn't really belong with them.

Cards hit .280 vs Rhp and 238 vs lefties. Obviously

Lester starts game 1 but Doubront may be very useful

in the Series, plus we will need a lefty besides Breslow

in the pen and that can't be Morales....Thorton?
No Morales.  No Thornton.

May be Doubront start instead of Peavy ?
That was discussed briefly on the ST FU website.  From what I've seen against the NYY over the past two seasons, I have a lot of faith in Doubront under pressure.  StL has a .755/.672 split.  For comparison, we have a .818/.751, large, but not as large as StL.  And they are 78-42 against RHP and 19-23 v LHP.  Farrell seems like a ballsy guy.  Maybe Doubront starts with a short leash?

    Scott Lauber/Boston Herald

Reading between lines, sounds like Gomes, Bogaerts will be in Red Sox' lineup for G1. Lineup with them has gained "momentum," Farrell said
