Against righty Cobb four righties and just five lefties.  Gotta go with Vic, Pedey, and Middlebrooks, of course, but Napoli over Carp at 1B?  Must be Napoli hits Cobb.

Only an injury or resting will take Napoli out of the lineup.  Good to see Nava in the lineup, Nava & Gomes platoon depending on lefty/righty pitching.  Like to see Cobb getting lit up tonight.

Looks like the Tigers may bow out at Oakland.  Hate to see Sox having to play 3 games (if needed) at Oakland, making for late games.

Napoli is 3 for 9 against Cobb along with 4 RBI, 3 BB and 4 So's while Carp is 0 for 5 with two strikeouts against Cobb.

Obviously, Farrell do not want to mess up the chemistry of the line up where it have been working for the first two games!!

Detriot just added Peralta and now they are losing by 3 runs.  Bad move by Detriot!!

Cards facing elimination in Pittsburgh.  Rays do the same in Tampa.

Should the Rays win tonight, Maddon will probably switch to Moore , on three days rest , instead of Hellickson tomorrow night. Best to close this out tonight.

    Stabbed by Foulke.

Exactly, and he'll use Price on short rest Thursday. We lose this game, we could actually be in a tight spot. This is the way it happened to the Reds last year. They had the chance to close it out in game three, and lost 2-1 in extra innings. Were never close again, and lost three in a row.

Re: ALDS Game 3 Thread: Red Sox at Rays

If Cobb keeps the ball down anything can happen. 2-3 double plays and he's got a shutout potentially. I suspect that the umps will not be inclined to give the Redsox any advantages in this game. They are going to have to swing because they are not going to get those low pitches called balls. Even though they should. It is amazing that Cobb gets so many of those calls as it is. And tonight it will be a perfect storm for that issue.

The business of baseball indicates that the Rays win tonight. It's a factor in my opinion. I've seen it too many times. And Buchholz is probably still a little rusty and without his best stuff. Buchholz does certainly give us a chance in this sort of game though. Stuff so good he can potentially overcome the umps and the calls which probably go generally in the Rays favor at the Trop.

Yeah. Actually, Price would be on full rest by Thursday. Close it out now.
