    Re: ALDS starters announced

Every player who has reached F/A is overpaid b/c they are paid on PAST PERFORMANCE

But to compare Peavy to Byrd is a little nutty...........

Hope Peavy don't have to pitch in ALDS with Sox clinching in 3 straight.  Wishful thinking, but hoping.

Why?  Is the fourth starter for the Rays or Indians any better than Peavey?  Archer, perhaps, but a good matchup.  But Kazmir/Kluber, no.

Archer?? Pfft..Hes got lit up big time his last few starts. Hes obviously hitting a wall. No way is he better than peavy...

I agree Southpaw.  But, for the sake of argument, I am giving allowance here just based on raw numbers.  But, I like Peavey in that match-up, no question.  Experience.

    Gotchya...

Personally, I would actually be more fearful of Kazmir the way hes pitched and coming from the left side. After Price, Moore, and to an extent Cobb, the Rays dont have much of anything with Archer hitting the rookie wall and Fausto Carmona Hernandez (whatever).

As far as our Rotation, I clearly understand why Buch is #3.

Lackey is clearly better at home and Lester has been his old self the 2nd half. Heres Lesters numbers...

    Sept numbers: 35IP in 5 games 7IP per game 10ER and a 2.57ERA.

    since July: 16G 2.89ERA 6.2IP per start 34ER in 106IP

    Thats TOTR type stuff

Although One could argue a case for Buch to start the series, I think putting him #3 take a little pressure off him and gives us a better #3 option than anyone.

How come no one else remembers when Pedey got a double off Lackey in the ALDS (I think 2008) Lackey called Pedey out claiming Pedey was showing him up.  I think said something like "the guys is acting like Babe Ruth hitting a game winning HR in the WS" - something to that effect - It was like the only time I ever heard anyone speak negatively of Pedey....

Because it was five years ago and no one, inclduing Pedey, gives an excrement?

    Byrd's ERA his last 3 years was b/t 4.5 and 5

Peavy is around 4 currently past 3 years

I don't think you are a Sox fan

I wish Buccholz was pitching first.  I hope I'm proven wrong, but I don't trust Lester to pitch well in a big spot.  PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG, LESTER.

Doubront and Dempster have hit a wall harder than Archer.

    Archer's last 7 starts:

    IP   H  ER BB

    7     4   1   0

    7     4   2   2

    7     5   1   0

    3.2  9  5   1

    4     4  2   1

    6    3   0   0

    6    4   2   1

    4.1 5  4    1

    2.1 5  1    1

    Last 5 starts:  1-1   3.57   1.147

I share your concern. I still don't fully trust Lester to come up big in a very big game. On the other hand, I think we can get to Moore.

Now much detail here. Why was Pedey showing him up by hitting a double?

He wasn't showing him up.  He was just excited.......normal stuff..
