Interesting that he's starting. I thought "the plan" was to make him a lefty specialist.

12/12 K/W ratio against minor leaguers.  He's a long way away.

Check out Josh Redick's hiting around 300 and has 8 homers already. A Dwight Evans kind of an arm great fielding right fielder could he be J D Drews replacement next year.
It seems he is figuring out advanced pitching pretty well as of late. The only obstacle is that Tito and the Red Sox have already crownedKalish as the prince. Josh Redick has a better arm for right field and he has more power.

Our minor leagues have some great stories developing. The whole Salem team is hiting around 350 Radriguez Butler Bentz Midlebrooks and there are others who are hiting the cover of the baseball.

His walk rate is ridiculous and that has been his problem for a long time now. They appear to be hoping that he is another late blooming big LH. Until the walk rate comes down he is no use to us.

any lefty that can throw 98 is always exciting, give him some time in the minors, i think we will be pleasently suprised.

And harness I remember reading that the sox always wanted him as a starter, part of the reason they put him in triple a to start the year, they were nervous he was gonna get swiped on wavers, becuase he has the potential to be a special player.

I was amazed he wasn't snagged off waivers, but I thought the FO saw him as a lefty alternative out of the pen.

I think Reddick has as good a shot as Kalish. I don't see anybody being given anything at this point. But the obvious hope is that the team can replace Drew via the farm.

Miller's raw stuff remains incredible, and this was a smart sho at a reclamation project regardless -- much like Wake was once upon a time.
Ranaudo looks like he real thing down in Greenville too.

    More cherry-picking.

Why not use career MLB stats on Miller like you use on those you hate?

Why not use Aceves AAA numbers when comparing to Wake ?

Choose one criteria and stick with it.

AAA hitters can't hit Miller so far, problem is, they don't need to get a lot of hits to get on base because he's walking too many.

Can you IMAGINE if Miller ever gains control? He's still so young and the upside so great that it was a great move to give him a shot.

it took randy johnson a long to get his mechanics down too, this happens a lot with really tall power pitchers, it might be worth waiting for

I really hope Miller can gain some more control. He would be leathal. The comparison to R. Johnson is a good one. Hes worth waiting a year or 2 to see if he can figure it out.

"Crawbury" is a childish name you have given to the absurd 142M Crawford signing. Some fast guy scored on a play and you want to ignore the net OBP and pretend that this is supposed to get people slobbering with you.

Harness, repeat after me, a bigger sample size than a scatback scoring a run is Varitik giving up 9 runs in his last two starts, while Salty only gave up 2 runs in his last two starts. Cause and effect is completely bogus, but suck on that for a while.

Re: Andrew Miller leads hot Pawsox

8 of Miller's walks came in his first two starts - 4 in his last two.  Small sample sizes, but an encouraging trend.  Bowden has also pitched very well out of the bullpen, which I thought was a bit of an unusual role for him.  We can't get carried away, though - Okajima was unhittable in Pawtucket after all.

Reddick is red hot right now.   For me, the big story that continues to fly under the radar is Navarro.  He's not in Iglesias's league defensively, but would still be very good.  Combined with a .983 OPS he's making a strong case for supplanting Iglesias as the SS of the future.
