I'll bet BC's hands are really warm from sitting on them for so long.

Sox becoming an even less significant part of the baseball conversation.

Everyone complains about the Lackey's and Beckett's and their contracts and then complains when the Sox don't spend 15 million a year for a 31 year old with 2 decent years as a starter, and who was pretty much lousy in the post-season.

The Angels had a payroll in 2011 of $139 mil.. They just added on $40 mil. today if these deals are for real.

The Angels still won't win the World Series. Pujols alone won't generate enough offense for such a tepid team. I don't think Wilson can be relied upon as an elite starter either.

Wilson is a 3 year and 30M max value. Not impressed on this 2nd tier rodeo profile.

All of a sudden, a 40 + year old knuckleballer who can at least break even and only wants 1-2mil doesnt sound too bad at the 5 spot..........

The Angels seem very serious about winning.  Did they over-pay?  probably.

Are they a much better team today than yesterday - absolutely.

I think the Sox are in a state of shock or something.  If you aren't going to make moves at least re-sign or lock up long term key pieces.

The fact that they locked up Beckett long term and are ignoring Ellsbury is just flat out stupid.

Wastefield can break wind, 5 plus ERA is not breaking even. There is no market for a 45 year giant beer gut T-Ball pitcher. WAstefield market is league minimum and a minor league contract.

He doesn't seem to get that the Sox need a top tier starter and closer.  Ortiz could go either way this year, big bucks for him IMO.  '12 is going to be a long season.

You are absolutely correct and no one could have said it better.
