Re: Another 5 hit night for our RED SOX.... Where is the ENERGY to .......

The sad part is that Cespedes got three(3) of the hits last night. This is just a pathetic team that needed hitting to start the season and they might have been in the thick of things. Instead they let Ellsbury and Saltalamachia two productive players and hitters get away because Larry Luchinno wanted a major league minimum player to play in Center field who cannot hit a baseball. Pziernski was another disastrous signing because they wanted a one year contract instead of a three year deal for Saltalamachia. Just Larry being cheap and being the hatchet man.

It was not the loss of Ellsbury and Salty; Holt and Vazquez have done their part just fine. Both are great additions. But the continued confidence in Bradley, Bogaerts and Middlebrooks has cost the team dearly.

I know I do not comment here much, mostly on the Pats forum, but as a Sox fan this has got to be a killer this year. Last year they were hitting all over the place, scoring runs in bunches and now, bupkiss! It has got to hurt to go from the penthouse to the outhouse in half a season!

AGCSBill, just a fan havin' fun!!
MOOKIE was on the bench..... Yes I know that they want to see what Middlebrooks can do but it just looks like we are content to play "STATION to STATION" BASEBALL......  That said, I guess that you can't use speed when the middle of the order has "BIG PAPI" and his great base running skills.....  BTW, just pointing out that our youth/ENERGY  is being squeezed by this type of play.....

Here are last night's offensive contributers:

Vazquez: Line out, RBI, Sac Fly ties game; top 5th
Cespedes, Nava,: hits in 7th; Bogaerts Sac bunt in 7th

That's it. One of Cespedes hits meant something. Zero contributions from the rest of the gang. Middlebrooks should have been in the stands with Jenny. (I was watching the St Louis broadcast on Extra Innings).

Garagiola thinks Craig's foot injury has been his problem all year. That he waits on a pitch as well as anyone in the game, Good prognosis if he's right.

It may be that best hitter on the squad is riding the bench. Betts has got to be in this lineup, and batting some where about 5 or 6.

remember they are playing in National league.  Napoli was benched in favor of Papi playing at 1b due of no DH.  That mess up the line up easily.  Also both Craig and Victorino are out at the same time they are far better hitters than any rookies in the line up.

Come on, the season is already over.  No Victorino, Craig, gave up Lester, Peavy and Lackey along with a loss of Ellsbury and Salty is making this team to look so bad.  Playing too many rookies isnt the solution for the offense for this year or they can try to win every single game.  Look at Astros, Rays, among others who tended to play alot of young guys to rookies guys still stunk every year!!  Rays may be exceptional cuz of strong pitching, but they are about to fall apart due Price is gone.

Right now it is all about showboating for the next season Boston Red Sox team.  Of course half of these rookies playing right now will not be on the 25 man roster next year.  So it is up to Bett, Bradley, Boggie, Middlebrook, Holt, Vazquez, etc all to fight for the job to try to be part of the next year 25 man roster.  I know Ben C. isnt going to keep all of them.  Some could be trade while other will be send down to AAA.

Right now I think the only guy that will be pick to be on the 25 man roster is Holt while others isnt impressing me yet.
I think that you are right, however we can't give up on Bradley or Bogaerts as they are going to get better.......  Middlebrooks is now playing the DREW card, being that we need to see what he can do (like DREW) before we come to the conclusion to send him packing, his value/game has gone down hill since he set up house with that Jenny, JENNY DELL girl !!!   Just saying !!

    Bill

I was thinking maybe the Sox should petition to play in the NL and not have a DH....They usually bat 2 to 3 good hitters at best every night, by the time you reach the No. 6 spot, it's Pawtucket....

Ortiz at 1b....the guy is actually pretty decent for someone who doesn't get to play the spot much over the years.

but if there was no DH, Papi would not have a good offense stats in the past three years.  He ll be worn out by the time he is 34 to 35 due of playing every day at 1b!!
