In Response to Re: Another Yankee pitching bust? : Montero hasn't done anything yet - just because the Mariners believed the hype, doesn't make it true. The Yankees gave up Kennedy, Coke & Jackson to get Granderson, and Jackson was the most highly-regarded of the three.  Kennedy has lived up to his potential one year in the NL West - let's see if that continues.  Jackson has yet to justify his top 50 prospect status. Robertson makes my point - why was there no hype surrounding this guy?  He had terrific minor-league stats.  He's the guy you should have been excited about when you were drooling over Phil Hughes and Humberto Sanchez.
Posted by slomag
I knew what Robertson was. And you also forgot Tyler Clippard.

You totally miss the point.

Drafting and developing good prospects is not only about filling your future roster, it is also about using them to get established players to make your team stronger down the road.

Jackson, Coke and Kennedy were attractive prospects who brought in an established star in Curtis granderson.

I knew Kennedy was the real thing but when a player like Curtis is available you have to make that trade.

That Montero was thought well enough to bring in a talent like Pineda speaks volumes.

Melancon was used as a chip to bring in Lance Berkman

At this point I couldn't care less if Montero bombs he has already served our purpose. But I do believe he will be a success.

Cano and Chien Ming Wang were vitual unknowns in the Yankee farm system when they brought up in 2005.

Cano was not hyped like Ellsbury and Pedroia and I'm not knocking either they are both very good ballplayers that I'd take on my team anytime.

But the truth of the matter is they were hyped much more by the Boston media than Cano was in NY.

There are a few pitchers ready for the Bronx but i wouldn't classify them as front of the rotation guys.

Phelps, DJ Mitchell and Warren. You saw Phelps the other night.

All three have pitched well against MLB hitters so far this spring, it is possible they will be noticed and moved too.

There are a lot of teams out there who need young pitching.

I don't think the Yankee roster is set that there will be a trade or two before the deadline.

Only a half dozen Yankee fans today are keeping this BDC forum alive today and they did it by worshipping Rush Limbaugh politics and yearning for an argument. Those who are not responding / not here,  do not care about ultra right wing politics and comments from rabid, headstrong Yankee fans. After all this is a baseball forum and not a political talk radio show and this forum is not a pulpit or sounding board for rabid Yankee fans or conservative politics. Why not go to one of the Globe forums that are designated for politics?

The BDC Globe Red Sox Forum is treading water and is in dire danger of going under due to it being ruined by Trolls, Concern Trolls, closet Yankee fans, Fair Weather Red Sox fans, perpetual Red Sox whiners, skeptics, cynics, and "Debbie Downers. As a Group, all of you collectively have ruined the Forum.  The Forum is Humpty Dumpty who has fallen off the wall and is shattered and even Harness won't be able to restore it. The forum is a magnet for those who wish to argue and have 99% opinion and 0 % facts, logic, and reason. The demise will be the fault of those who did no research, had no facts, are all opinion, are headstrong, obstinate, and shallow.

Notice how many threads have no substance to begin with but are just a meeting place / focal point for those with a beef, stupidity, need to debate over nothing, and personal barbs. Don't we all know already about the Forum trolls, bigots, and pot stirrers. Those who left certainly had their fill of them and will never be back. Yet nobody tries to start an interesting thread, make pertinent responses filled with facts, and be logical and reasonable. Moonslav threads and posts are ignored and yet posts and threads by Babe, Camelwalk, and the J-Bay sanctioned fraternity get responses. The success or failure of the Forum is the result of a grass roots movement and 90% of the roots are from the Yankee Nation.

Although not condemned as a war criminal, does the name Calley ring a bell.

My Lai Massacre (Vietnam) This should have been considered a war crime.
