I think he has the power to eventually be a 3 or 4 hitter one day, but right now hes just learning the league and its his second year in the bigs. He will be fine.

All of RSN is ecstatic about the RS start, the starting pitching, the relief pitching. Please discuss that?

Does Middlebrooks not play for the Red Sox. Oh wait he does so yeah he’s up for discussion. Seems everything in this thread has been fairly positive. IF the goal of a troll is to be annoying then you certainly are succeeding pike.

Ps no one likes bad brains since they became a reggae band.

I think he'll be just fine as a No. 5 hitter this year. He's in a slump, but I think once he breaks out, he'll be fine. He was very good last year and 75 games isn't a small sample.

Will Middlebrooks might be Mark Reynolds with a better glove but fewer walks.

    Mark Reynolds has value.

Mark Reynolds has value?  Is he a baseball player or a precious metal commodity?  You should try elaborating sometime Hill, because I'm beginning to wonder if you're a baseball fan or an artificial intellience program.

I've provided this forum with extensive statistical comparisons of Will Middlebrooks and Mark Reynolds since July 11, 2011, when Globecolumnist Nick Cafardo wrote that " While Middlebrooks always will have a healthy number of strikeouts, he’s never going to be Mark Reynolds bad ..."

Thanks for the invitation, but my head hurts from just peeking at all those numbers, especially at this time in the evening.  Enjoy the game.

    Re: Anybody worried about Middlebrooks?

i would say i am a bit worried about middlebrooks, he is batting under .200 now i believe and has really struggled as of late. hopefully he will figure things out and break out of his slump, but he could be getting hit hard by the old sophmore slump. yet another reason why we need to trade for a middle of the order bat. middlebrooks and ortiz are 5/6 guys right now, we have no clearly 3/4 hitter. middlebrooks has struggled and ortiz is a question mark at this point given his injury troubles and age. if not for the great pitching, no way this team is 10-4. 6 of the 14 games we have scored 3 runs or less.

I'd say he needs a day or two off--put Ciriaco in at third--you don't lose much defensively and right now you might not miss anything offensively.

    Discuss.

It's funny I almost started the same thread.  I am concerned with Middy's plate discipline, he only  has three BB's while SO, 18 times and is swinging at bad pitches.  This may not be a 2nd year slump, I think pitchers around the league are realizing he struggles badly with breaking balls.  I'm also concerned with Salty's offensive numbers reverting back to the norm after a great start, much like last season.

Hopefully both of them come out of it but like I said, timely hitting, solid pitching and good defense can cover these issues.  We are winning games with this bunch so far, thats all that really counts.  Its a very close team that wants to win!

He'll be fine he's just in a slump. He's a solid young player

No worries here, he's just in a slump.
