The first few weeks will be very interesting
at NY then at Toronto 3 each
home vs. O's 3 and Rays 4
then at terry and the Indians
should keep this forum hopping and full of foolish comments on the season.

Sox are playing 18 home games and 10 away games. Need good starting month.

Well, there are plenty of delusional posters out there that will tell you games in April and May don't matter.

The Red Sox need to start winning right away. If not, then the media will be all over them again.
I wish the Red Sox can play the Astros 18 times. LOL

I think the start of the 2013 (for the Sox anyway) are some of the most important games of the season.
With everything that has gone on the last year and a month, coming out of the gates fast will do wonders for the teams attitude and the fanbase as well.

conspiracy she'll tell us
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for "her" to tell you anything as long as pike is banned.

Who speaks for you when you're banned? Do we really know how many names a guy who spends his life obsessing about a rival team on Sox boards and in Sox bars actually has on this board?
Your team is going to be awful this season. I hope you're going to be around to enjoy it on a Sox board since the Red Sox and their fans are your entire life. Hey, remember when the Sox beat up the Yankees and you said you left your laptop at your "job" that you don't have? That was fun.

While you're right (Relatively speaking), those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, especially after the RS had their worst campaign in 47 yrs (in which you predicted the title earlier in the season), and the experts don't think too much of them this yr either.

What did the media and forum think of the Red Sox chances coming out of spring training last year? I thought that hopes were high. Was Las Vegas and the experts really down on them?
The media soured on them some due to the previous September, and also the BV hire. In her case, she was still calling for a title roughly mid-season. Even Gammons was pessimistic. Of course, even Gammons cannot predict what's going to happen.

The issue is depending on where you are in the standings in Aug that makes each of the next games have more meaning in the sense that there are fewer games left in the season.
Those that say a loss in April is not as important as one in Sept IMHO are saying you can make up a loss or your standing from April or May or June easier than you can in Aug or Sept.
How it is stated is incorrect they are saying something that does not convey what they are meaning.
IMHO I do not believe too many here fully understand that perception and take the statement "April games are not as important as Aug..." too literaly.

When you're one game out with one to play, that game is more important than the one in April.

Boston needs to win each series (win 2 out of 3) right off the bat.
So after 13 games vs. the Yankees, Blue Jays, O's and Rays, hopefully the Red Sox can be 8-5.
I still expect a brawl in April. LOL
