Would you trade for ARod if......
He would play first and DH?
He would renegotiate the contract to at least half of what it is?

No way and this is another reason why not to give long contracts. I am so glad that CC and adrian are gone.

not if he were free.
let the yankees choke on him for the next 5 years.
would absolutly love to put on YES everynight and see $30MM sitting on the bench for the next 5 seasons.....

Thank God, Boston dumped $260 million in contracts to the Dodgers.
Thank you LA. :)

If you had ask me that 5 years ago before A-Rod opted out of his contract and renew his new contract, I would take him. But now he got 5 years left of his contract going to be 38 years old next year. He got nothing left in him.
Get Youkilis instead of him!!

ARod is proof that greatness does fade. He may be able to retool, but he hasn't been the player he used to be or was signed for for a while. Not being mean, just sayin ....

jim wants to trade Pedroia and acquire ARod?
Re: ARod

No way! The guy is like 40 years old and fading fast. He can't hit in the clutch. It would be up there with signing Lackey, maybe even worse.

You're wrong.
Really nice thread though.

So let's say $45 M for Dice, Youk, Ells and Ortiz + $25 AGon, $22 CC, $16 Beckett, $1.6 Nick.---That's--$109 M for 8 players that could be used more wisely.
How would you spend that $109 M?????
You could buy a whole new rotation--imagine that...Or 4 Starters and Soriano as the closer.
You could buy three Starting pitchers along with Hamilton and BJ Upton or Bourn.
Minimum Salary players or under $1 M: Iggy, Lava, Kalish, Doubie, Atch, Middlebrooks, Gomez
Next tier Under $5 M: Salty, Miller, Bailey, Melancon, Hill, Ross?, Morales, Aceves,
Next: Around $10 M +: Pedroia, Lackey, Lester
Round numbers $175 M for the 25 man roster( a few parts inc or removed)

There's no way the players association would allow him to renegotiate his contract.

only if they let him take his roids again
