I am just glad they are still in the NL, I would have hate to see us get swept by the Astros this season. -

Houston makes a move to replace their manager when their season is shot.
The Red Sox cling to Valentine when their season is shot.
Even with an inferior roster, Houston is trying to get something out of their season by making a change. With the second highest payroll in the majors the Red Sox are riding out the storm? -

Changing managers and second tier players should already show does nothing to improve this team. How many Scutaro's, Tito's, and Shoppachs do we need to trade/sign before you wake up that it is the core players causing the failure? -

Core players or core pitchers? The mystgery is still why Josh Beckett and Jon Lester have oitched so poorly. While Lester finally looks better, Beckett seems to be getting worse. These two guys are playing mirror-mirror ....they are not mirroring their real image but the dark reflection. Lester normally wins about twice as much as he loses and this season it is the opposite. Beckett is losing about the same as he won last year ...percentage wise.
If these two have standard years, we are only a few games out of 1st ... and may well have been in first if a few of those wins were against the Yanquis.
The untimely loss of Big Papi proves how significant he is to us, as well. Since he was injured, the Sox have truly floundered. -

Does anyone think Mills would be able to handle the manager position here ?
Not sure why Huston felt they needed to get rid of him, when you have little league players, you cant expect them to compete in the big leagues, no matter who the manager. -

I thought so too.
I think a few other teams have a higher payroll than the Red Sox.
The Yankee's payroll is more than North Korea's total GDP. LOL -

The funny part is, Houston's record, at this point, is better than it was last year. The RS are 15 games behind our record of last year. -

It's funny that the Phillies had the second highest payroll entering the season and I don't read a ton of stories about Charlie Manual losing his job. It's a fickle business... -
