it is hilarious that francona can write a tell all book after failing so miserably as manager because he was too medicated to even discipline his own players and bootlickers still refuse to even discuss it...

this is not about valentine, ferrell, or anyone else...this is about francona writing a book and criticizing the team, the management, and others for his own failings...

sad...i guess truth not only hurts, but it is too painful to even mention

Why not read the book and get back to us...all I had to do was glance at the excerpts in Chad Finn's column to see that you're way off base on what he said about Schilling.

Kind of telling that someone is willing to trash someone over a book he hasn't read yet.

This is as embarrassing as ADG saying the Hanrahan trade was dumb about a week before the trade took place.

cmon the guy did a lot of opining for someone who claimed to be a players manager...

he shouldve taken the high road...like valentine...

I guess you forgot the Valentine had a clause in his contract, he couldn't say anything about the organization for a year after his departure, geo. Nor would I call what he has said about some of the players, the high road.

obviously tongue in cheeck Jb...but kind of ironic isnt it? The big mouth really hasnt said much but the Saint has a LOT to say about others....

Yeah, but thats the whole point you miss homey.  I don't give a flying f&*k about how saintly or high-road Francona is.  He spent 8 years in the belly of the beast.  Between the media, fans, idiot owenership, and his crazy pampered stars, he kept the reigns and made it work better than any Sox manager in history.  I could care less if he takes the high road.  His actions speak louder than his words.  Sure, it broke him in the end, but kudos for him for defying the odds for so long.

But seriously Geo, your boy the Big mouth "hasn't really said anything"?  I guess you have been too busy writing scathing critiques of Cherrington and the Bootlickers to notice how many sour grapes he has popped on his way out the door.  Thats just plain hilarious that you would say "he really hasn't said anything".

And for that I'd lick his boots.

Probably because Valentine said everything he had to say about the players while the season was actually going on. Oh, and there was his ESPN "leaks" that we could probably add to that.

I haven't read the book yet. I'm currently reading K2 Life and Death on the World's Most Dangerous Mountain by Ed Viesturs. I like reading books about climbing Everest, K2 and other mountains in the winter when I can sort of understand what kind of cold these incredibly brave maniacs are in. But I will, of course, read it. It will be interesting to see how much of what has already been said has been completely twisted by posters here.

You must have read "Into Thin Air", the story of the 1996 Everest tragedy.

A pretty good read. It's shows just how nuts some of those mountaineers are.

Never thought Francona was a saint, but he'll always have my respect and regard for '04 and '07 and for the overall way he carried himself while he was here.

As for the book, I look forward to reading it when I have some spare time, but until then I'm not going to rush to judgment and bash Francona, the owners, or anyone else based on the few excerpts that have been reported in the media; my guess is that they don't tell the whole story of an almost 400-page book, or of an 8-year period that was the most successful in RS history. I know it's all about September 2011 in some people's minds, and I don't think you can pin what went wrong there on any one group -- players, manager, or owners. Mistakes were made all around, and when the dust settles and everyone has had their say I think history will reflect that.

    Geo,

you couldnt be further from the truth with your assesment of a book that you havent even read yet. Maybe if you actually took the time to read the book then you might be taken seriously here.

This obsession with Francona is unhealthy at best.

It doesn't matter if he reads it or not.

He's made up his mind about Francona and no amount of facts are going to sway him from that opinion.

If he doesn't rant and rave, he doesn't get the attention he needs.

Semantics. It is now acceptable for many here to call Georom a crybaby or a whiner. This implies that he is being truthful, sincere, and honest. What if he is role playing, pretending, and baiting you. Hasn't anyone had that thought. If you do then you could call him a troll. That is why they have the definition.
