Blame it all on the commisioner. His all out nuclear war on A-Rod forced Alex to retaliate with the same. Mutually assured destruction. A-Rod can continue playing by appealing. Brilliant. A softer suspension would have A-Rod on the sidelines right now. Potentially A-Rod could win his appeal. Then where would Bud be? Dempster waxing A-Rod was for the players, not for the team, the fans or the city. I really have to credit A-Rod, his demeanor and revenge were both perfect. Yankee fans nust be pleased, and Girardi rushing out to support his guy, buys votes in the clubhouse. All in all, Dempster transformed A-Rod from despicable to victim to hero. Might be Dempster's biggest career accomplishment.

Anyone who thinks of A-Rod as a hero after last night needs to look up the definition of the word, he got hit by a pitch and he's a world class scumb@g end of story. I have no issue with demp hitting him, but if your gonna hit someone you either have to pick a better spot or be able to shut them down, demp was unable to do either of those things.

Im pretty sure he was the LITERAL definition of hero after getting thrown at, plunked and then hitting a game winning home run...

A player who cheats repeatedly and throws his teammates under the bus is not a hero even if he hits a walk off homerun in the 9th inning of game 7 during the world series.

This is also TRUE; few beside the loathsome ARod can create a kaleidoscopic circus fun house mirror like this; which is why the word circus seems to follow him around.

Besides being his usual azzhatedness, Im not sure what Arod has done that other cheaters haven't done...so he cheated....so have about 500 other guys...so he has appealed, so have hundreds of others in the past few years....meanwhile the Yanks get to play good cop bad cop all at the same time by saying they are "uncomfortable" with Arod playing but start him anyways....Then we throw in the pitching genius that is Beckett Dempster and we got this sorry state of affairs last nite...

    As always - 100% correct!

What Arod did was rat on his fellow dopers (Braun) and a member of the union In an attempt to save his own azz...Dempster didn't hit him because he had a personal issue or was trying to take the law into his own hands and yes it was not the best baseball move. why he hit him was because he's part of a union where solidarity is the very foundation in which the stregnth of thier ability to collectively bargain lyes and arod sold out one of his own. If this was back in the 60 or 70 he'd have been hit multiple times already, and least of which have to listen to some chin music in every at bat.

Girardi who once depended on the union as a card carrying member know that the underlying reason for Arod wearing it dispite his passionate diatribe immediately following and after the game in the press. Was a message sent by the membership not the Red Sox or Dempster.

End of the day If Arod was part of a blue collar union they would have found him in the trunk of car With a bullet in his head.

Good to hear the Eck's take on this last night.  He called it a dumb move in no uncertain terms...you could tell he was kind of shocked by just how dumb it was.

Which are all illegal acts, and if caught, would have the book thrown at them. This is not the mob controlled Teamsters. Also, it is not up to Dempster, in full view, to take the law in his own hands. Finally, the 'ratting out' is currently hearsay by the media.

they had two earlier games to plunk him if they really wanted to -  the rubber game of an important series when youre up by a few runs against their ace is not the time to put runners on - let alone fire up the whole team...

    beyond dumb

The umps were the biggest joke of the night, three Yankees were HBP after Arod and the warning.

Girardi gets tossed and CC would have been bounced if he retaliated no doubt.

TWM, i forget who the second guy hit was, but while i get your point, it was clearly an unintentional breaking ball HBP

What will happen when Jobba Chamberlain hits Peddy in the wrist and breaks it and ends his season?
