Typical America - companies are reckless in their spending and they get a "out a jail free" card.  As for the common man when your business gets in trouble the government does not show up to bail you out.

I am still waiting for my C-Span live and my public option.

Posted by BurritoT[/QUOTE]Frank isn't exactly a corporation and it is hard to say just how this will all settle out for Frank and his lovely wife Jamie.

True enough they have been wreckless, using the Dodger equity like an ATM to buy multiple homes (that have all decreased in value because of the sub-prime bust) and finance a pretty lavish lifestyle. The story that came out in their divorce was pretty ugly.

But it is yet to be determined just how this plays out for McCourt. He holds a lot of paper he and not MLB owe money on. Best I can tell all MLB did was say you are about to be insolvent and we are relieving you of any duties, baseball operations or business with the Dodgers. How hisequity versus his debt will be solved is yet to unfold.

I do happen to agree with you that America has become a nation of corporate welfare, welfare for the military contractors, financial companies, oil companies, agri-business and big-pharma. And that isn't Dem or Republican, that is the way it is regardless of the labels, the Republicans have just been better paid for their support of the corporate welfare state IMO.

True the common man gets no break if their small business is failing because they tell us that is how capitolism works - yet the big companies are bailed out and given breaks you only expect to find in a socialist country.

We don't usually bail out companies.

We bailed out Chrysler way back when because their retirement funds were in Chrysler stock.  If they went bankrupt, the gov't was on the hook for more money than the bailout would cost.

Some of the recent bailouts were just to ensure continuity of the financial system, and a lot of banks just took the money so their clients and creditors had a comfort level.

GM and Ford was a payoff to the unions for supporting Obama, and their management should've been fired years ago anyway.
