Starting Ace is not smart. Webster or moving up Doubront would have been a wiser choice.

Doubront was pushed back to make so Aceves could make this start. Tillman does have a ERA, I am surprised that that didn't make it into his post.

Aceves has started before for the Sox and at Fenway, plus Farrell has the individual stats on how Aceves did last year against the Orioles lineup.  Could Aceves blow up?  Sure he could.  But he's the best option for now.  Webster will get his shot.

i have more faith in aceves than i do in doub-ious.

Doubie is going to start tomorrow instead. They could have moved everyone up one day and they still would have pitched on normal rest-without using Aceves.

Last night was the first of 19 consecutive games without a day off.  Better to let Aceves get a start.  Besides, we know he wants to start, and there is not time like early in the season to see how he does.

I agree PG. I think the Sox are giving AA his shot and if he falls on his face we might see Webster if he keeps pitching the way he is in AAA... Im pretty sure Lackey will be out until sometime in May, so there will be an opportunity to see Webster if AA doesnt get the job done.

I agree Max. I think this gives ace a chance to prove himself and with his mind set he may be tough to beat!
