Beginning of the season prospect talk

Many of the affiliates open up this Thursday including: Pawtucket, Portland & Greenville.  Salem opens up on Friday.  I'm just as excited to follow these teams as I am the Sox.

I'm very eager to see the top prospects play.  With one already breaking through this year we are only witnessing the tip of the iceberg of the talent in this system that is rising to the top.

One notable name is Cody Kukuk who was placed in Greenville, a lot of people had suspected he would stay back in extended spring training and start the year in Greenville.  It was nice to see them put him with a full season club and see what they had in him.  It will be very exciting if he is dominating and gets a promotion this year.

Sox Prospects also did a few nice articles on the roster of each minor league system.

The minor league rosters are out. With the exception of Salem the starting rotations look unbelievably stacked. But Salem does have Henry Owens so they'll be worth watching nonetheless. Outside of the Pawtucket rotation, the Greenville rotation looks very very good.

Lots of kids in the upper levels that could make a name for themeslves this year. Also some very promising lower level prospects. Weve got a very good minor league system, probably the best weve had in years.

Lots of depth at most positions with 1b and a legit power bat being the most needed.

Ive already got tix to a couple Seadogs games and Im looking forward to following our prospects again this year

Some names to watch: AAA: Bryce Brentz, Chris Hernandez, RDLR, Allen Webster, Ryan Lavarnway

AA: Xander Bogaerts, Christian Vasquez, Matt Barnes, Drake Britton, Brandon Workman, Anthony Ranaudo

High-A Salem: Henry Owens, Blake Swihart, Garin Cecchini, Deven Marrero, Noe Ramirez

There are more in the lower A levels like Cody Kukuk, Jose Vinicio, Ty Buttrey and Jamie Callahan...Im sure we could add a few more names, but these are just some of the promising young players in our system that are looking to make an impact on the big club this year and beyond...
