In Response to Re: Ben Cherington is no Bill Belichick : Padilla was a head case who burned ben's faith in signing him...why try to spin that??? stupid move...the length of the contract is irrelevent...we signed a bum and he acted like one....Im more concerned about the SS hole than padilla...but both make him look bad...and to compare him to BB????  have some respect please....

Why were you tolerant when BB signed the head case named Randy Moss?

Nobody is spinning anything here about Padilla. It just wasn't that significant of a move to tarnish Cherrington's reputation. Scutaro was traded for economic reasons so that another starter might possibly be acquired. Isn't that common knowledge? The budget ceiling comes from ownership and not the GM.
You know how Belichick has a knack for signing a "bad guy" and having him quietly adopt the Patriots' way of doing things? You know how it always seems to work out? I just don't know if Cherington has what it takes to do the same thing, especially with baseball's guaranteed contracts. As toxic as the Red Sox clubhouse was last year, (and that's the real difference between the Patriots and Red Sox) it's hard to believe Cherington brought a guy like Vicente Padilla into the fold. A millionaire athlete who can't pay five hundred bucks a month child support for TEN kids??? As they say in the beer commercials, BRILLIANT!

Can we at least wait until the end of the first week of spring training before we assess Cherington as a GM?
great to see the knee jerk bootlickers going into a frenzy because someone dares to compare the two GM's of a town's professional sports organizations.....jeez, why not shut this site down now if this is not a kosher topic....shame on you Space - I expected better from a free thinker like yourself

Touche brother George. The bootlickers seem to be very sensitive in recent weeks. The forum is lucky to have a realist like you to keep them honest.

They've snapped.  They already passed judgement on a GM who is 0-0 at this point.  Think about it.  It's about the equivalent of saying the RS GM stinks without even knowing who the GM is.

This site has claimed two more people's sanity.
disagree strongly Space...no way does a player like Beckett NOT get traded by BB after his sorry september act...Moss was a great player, greater than beckett - he was gone as soon as he started repeating his old selfish ways - beckett has that same history and ben cowed to his defiant garbage (which he is still spouting today...read VEGAS thread) and he remains on the team.... imagine Papi interrupting BB at a post game press conference?????  lololol - yet Ben offers him arbitration despite our luxury tax woes.... dumb
    Posted by georom4
Moss drove down 95 with a woman on the trunk of his car
Beckett ate chicken and drank some beer.

    Moss has zero rings
and Beckett has 2 rings (of which he almost carried a team)
and your gonna tell me moss is better then beckett and that their actions are comparable?

As for Papi thats two draft picks of you offer him arbatration. Without those you get nothing if he walks away.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Now, if you had said IN the truck of his car, that's a whole 'nother bucket of chicken.

You lie. Scutaro was not moved for economic reasons. That is just more coverup for another Inepstein in the front office. You are another boot licker.
