on a roll that every team will probably have at some point, coming for them at a good time tho...still a ways to go, but tough when you're chasing two teams before you can even look at the top spot..

With their terrible start, its going to be an uphill battle the rest of the season. Not impossible though.

More concerned about matching the O's. Last series of the season at Camden & I want that place quiet.

On paper the Blue Jays have more talent than the Red Sox do. Its not surprising that they are making a run now. It would also not be surprising if they finished ahead of us or if we ended up battling the Yankees for fourth place.

Can I remind you of this post, the next time you go on a "you are what your record says you are" rant?

    Just curious...

It never ceases to amaze me that when the Sox are playing well, you assume they will hit a major road bump.  When they are playing poorly, you assume that they will not improve.  Yet, for other teams in our division, your assumptions are the exact opposite.

As FourBs says, you are infamous for the "you are what your record says you are" and the "what are they doing THIS YEAR" arguments.  You can't have it both ways.

Lester is throwing like crap; Bucky is about to go on the DL. Right now we are playing very well, but our pitching is middle of the pack. Before the season began the Blue Jays were picked to win the division-for a reason. They do have talent.

Jose Reyes (ankle) went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs scored Monday in his first rehab games with High-A Dunedin.
Reyes, who was playing his first game since his severe ankle sprain on April 12, also played five innings at shortstop. Barring any setbacks, the speedy shortstop could rejoin the suddenly red-hot Blue Jays within the next 10 days.

Since the NYY are 1 game behind the RS in the loss column, that's the not the only team looking over their shoulder; Balt too, of course.

In the end it will come down to the quality and depth of the teams starting pitching and backends of the bullpens. Toronto's recent uptick is an example of how a team can in a two week period go on a run and close the gap. If they can sustain that success over a month or two they'll find themselves back in the mix. There's a ton of baseball left to be played and with the trade deadline fast approaching the next few weeks will determine who's a player on the market and who's looking to pare back. Any of the AL East teams if they're aggressive in acquiring missing pieces can set themselves up to make a run. It's a five horse race...we'll soon find out which of the horses have the legs to finish strong...

Most teams "on paper" look better than the Sox.

          Say's something for accountability.

    Hf,

I predicted the bottom finally falling out on Tampa this season and ending up in last place.  That's exactly what may happen although I do feel Myers was a good move.  The Sox could also have traded for Wil instead of signing Nap, then signed another starter.  My bet is we would have still been a good team and much better off in the future.
