You can fire BV but the hiring process involved in actually seeking another manager to give a contract to would be too long to help the Sox this year with the new skipper.  You could appoint one of the coaches as interim until season's end and then search seriously for a new manager and hope that the Sox don't hire another BV or Tito because as everyone here points out - firing the manager gets rid of all of the Sox issues and turns the players back into superstars again.
