In 100 years I challenge you to point out a worse week than this. I was at the 18-3 game this week, missed today's implosion. Half dozen homers given up last night too. Never recalled a total implosion like this week. Back to back 7 run innings?

Hard to understand why Bobby Valentine's name is in the title.  This is completely on Cherington and the guys in the bullpen.

Cheringtons just a kid..Lucchino calks the shots. Theo bailed after about 15 crippling bad deals. After blowing all those $millions on crap and watching tampa win with triple a kids, Henry just said screw it.

This ain't on Bobby Vee.  What would any manager have done different that would have changed things?

Right now, there is, really, one good starter, who pitched to day, and NO BULLPEN.

Great effort by Doubront today, and the offense put up 9 runs, which should be enough.
The regularly imploding bullpen needs some major retooling. The best arm in the bullpen has an ERA of 24. Enough said.

ben literally sat on his hands on did nothing to improve the team...but that may be Henry's doing...either way we got rid of Scutaro's salary and didnt even bother to get a pitcher....

btw I just got back from Spain after tonight's debacle and I am back on the job....

He tipped his cap after blowing a 9 run lead! He flipped us off! Lowest moment in Boston sports history. The manager blows a 9 run lead a flips off the Boston fans. Doesn't get any lower than that.

Totally agree, tom. fans are fans, it's to be expected. I'm sure he was as frustrated, but the manager needs to rise above it.

He may have made some bad moves but the quality of the team on the field is the disgrace.  These guys should know how to play this game.  Valentine is impossible to judge other than he is not a magician we can see that.  The train wreck is on the on the awful roster and front office.  We got a glimpse of this with the greatest collapse in history in Sept.  How was it they thought it did not need fixing?

Bobby V can only play the players in Red Sox uniforms. When he points to the bullpen the body that shows up, no matter what the uniform number hasn't got the job done. If this continues, we will be talking about the "new look" Red Sox come July.

That's 100% accurate.  If you leave your BP with a 9-0 lead and they can't hold it then unless the manager is allowed to pitch it isn't his fault.

The RS BP was a weak point last year and since then they allowed the closer to walk and his replacement is on the DL.  The set up man was shifted to the rotation and the long relief man is now the closer.  The BP sucks, .. period.  Save the denunciations as a troll, .. you know the BP sucks.  Valentine can't make BP pitchers get guys out.

But, it's also early.  There are about 145 games left.  All the RS need to is not quit. More importantly the Nation can't quit on them.  I get it, .. the team is playing poorly but booing them, .. and the manager every chance they get isn't going to help.

Geez Nation, .. man up already!

    Holy exaggeration, Batman!

Not even the worst Boston sports moment in 2012. You'll recall the Pats losing the Superbowl, oh, 10 weeks ago.

    Re: Bobby Valentine's Day Massacre

You guys need to wake up and realize that this team sucks.I have said before the spring the training started that they will not make the playoffs this year and this is a bridge year. We did not make the playoffs for the last two years and this year we even downgraded whereas everyone else got improved. What did you guys expect, Bobby-V can not do anything here. You can hire best manager in the world, can do nothing with these loser players. The day Mr. Pedroia went on public to say something negative on Bobby-V, Mr. Henry should have blasted Pedroia's a** off. You hired a new manager who values accountability and is open about it. This is the choice they made, they need to support Bobby-V if they want to go anywhere with this team. Bobby-V should be given full authority to handle the players. If I am any part of the management my message to the players "the only way you can keep this job is by performing that can win the games and nonone is above accountability".

Nonsense, he should have flipped them off.  Valentine's brought some of this on himself but the way the fans are acting over at Fenway is embarrassing, and it has been embarrassing for a few years now.  I don't know who they think they are but they're not the Fenway fans that existed before these last handful of seasons, fans who actually knew something about the game.  Today's example was shameful petulant behavior at its worst.  The fans of today's Fenway are destroying the reputation of Fenway fans from the last 100 years.  The players lost the game, accountability is a you know what.

It's getting harder and harder to root for the Red Sox because of many of Today's Red Sox Fans.  They are destroying the culture of Red Sox baseball.
