Cook was a low risk/high reward potential type of guy. His Seattle game was absolutely stunning, but his season was far from good by any standards. He was not good on a last place team and the last place was partly due to his 4-11 record, but it was not his fault that he was asked to pitch so often.
He was worth the signing and I would like to see more low risk/high reward potential type guys signed every off season. One of these types of guys may be far better than Cook turned out to be in any season.
Again, Cook was a low risk and high reward potential that just did not turn out very well.
