TIMMY DID WELL EARLY ON, THEN, AS  SURE AS THE 6TH INNING COMES, POOF .......  NOT TO MENTION THE EARLY OPPORTUNITES THAT WE HAD !!!  ANOTHER ONE SLIP/SLIDING AWAY !!!  WHAT SAY YOU ??????

Get off the ledge Bill. Papi just homered. It's tied.

Wake's pitched great in his first two starts. This start is no different than another starter who was good early then hit a rough spot.

He did his job. He put the Sox in position to win.

actually bill, wake pitched well. it's more about a few poor defensive plays and a botched call by the umpire

he gave up a homer, just like clay gave up 2 bombs the other day. Again, the over-scrutinization of Tim Wakefield....Pedroia screws up a tag and 6 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, could have been 2...he got pulled after 6, and Aceves was left in too long the other day and so was Lester...Francona only seems to manage Wakefield closely. Why is that? Oh, that's right, he's a knuckleballer.

There you go, brilliance in rushing Wakefield off the hill...3 straight hits off the reliever in 4 batters. Nice work there, Tito. At least Wakefield didn't blow it for Sox, better a conventional pitcher do that. Instead of panicking, let the damn starter pitch the 7th.

Top of the 7th: White Sox 5, Red Sox 4

Albers got one out. Singles by Ramirez, Quentin and Konerko have made it 5-4. Now Rich Hill is in to try some sidearming magic.

He gave us 6 innings and kept us in the game...that's more than Lester did on Monday or Aceves did last night. I'll take it.

Another great start from the fat man with the 5 plus ERA since the 2nd half of 2009. He's been much better than Lester or Aceves, because Flapjack just said so.

He's made back to back 5 days rest starts just the 2nd time. He wasted a roster spot for nearly two months, all so this magic of a 4.40 11 days off ERA could reveal it's brilliance. Since the last half of 2009, Wastefield isn't physically capable of handling a starter's role. Sorry, under 50 innings since opening day doesn't pass the test. His 5 plus ERA is what it is, and is the correct sample size.

I can't wait to see his next few starts, every 5 days, because Aceves is a second class citizen in Boston. There was never any "contest".

Re: BOY, CAN HE EAT INNINGS.... JUST CAN'T HOLD ON.......

Well guys and gals, Konerko just took Papelbon yard, and it's
a 3 run White Sox lead in the 9th....the Sox just can't hit a
lick outside Papi and Agon, while the White Sox lineup is
crushing us. So...after this sweep, we will be 3 games in
the L column and sinking under the Yankees. This series
shows how lacking the Red Sox are in consistent hitting.
Youk is just not a #4 hitter. The Yanks have Granderson,
Teixeira, A Rod and Cano...and the Sox have Pedey, A Gon
Youk and Ortiz. You tell me who is gonna score more runs
for their pitchers. Let's stop fooling ourselves here. We
can't even get Konerko and Ramirez out....they just "used"
us for three games, and our hitters can't put runs on the
board. THAT WILL BE THE STORY OF THE RED SOX SEASON
IN A MICROCOSM. WE CANNOT BEAT THE GOOD TEAMS
AND GOOD PITCHERS. WE HAVE LOST 4 IN A ROW TO
PRETTY GOOD PITCHING AND THAT TELLS THE TALE.
NONE OF YOU GOOD TIME CHARLIES CAN DISPUTE
WHAT HAS HAPPENED THESE LAST FOUR DAYS !!!

Re: BOY, CAN HE EAT INNINGS.... JUST CAN'T HOLD ON.......

But if John Lackey threw 6 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, and left the game at 4-4, it would be a gutsy start by the 82-million dollar man, or if it were Dice-K, it would be a strong effort to keep his team in the game, and if it were Lester, you would be saying how the offense just didn't pick him up....

Aceves was left in by Tito to endure a tough outing, hardly "second-class" citizen treatment. Wakefield is on the shortest leash of all Sox pitchers, including relievers. If he gave up 3 straight singles, he would be bashed.

If Lester was 45 years old and had a 5 plus ERA since the last half of 2009, he would not be on this roster.

If DiceK was 45 years old and had a 5 plus ERA since the last half of 2009, he would not be on this roster.

If Slackey was 45 years old and had a 5 plus ERA since the last half of 2009, he would not be on this roster.

    End of story.

Or it could be that Wake hadn't thrown more than 85 pitches in an outing and he was about to hit the 100 pitch mark.... just a thought.

by all means, they have to hit and they are not getting timely hitting which is what allows runs to score. Youk has been hitting into double plays quite often lately which is not helping. He is not the only one doing this...Crawford is very good at it too.

Right, I forgot.  You don't need to coddle a 44 year old pitcher who has dealt with back and leg problems the past 2 seasons.  That makes perfect sense.......

The same Crawford who's only grounded into 2 double plays this season? (Youk has 6 counting today's).

This certainly wasn't the problem today.  They were 3 for 7 with RISP.
