Red Sox in 6. Boston's superior lineup, speed, team defense and Uehara will be too much for the Tigers.

The Tigers did win the season series, 4-3, but one of the games ended on a walkoff HR given up by Bailey and another game was where Webster was shelled -- two guys who will have no impact on the postseason.

Sox in 6, deciding game in extra-innings, an ALCS-clinching walk-off!

Red Sox in 2013 World Series, Patriots in 2014 Super Bowl!

    WHAT ARE THE PITCHING MATCH-UPS?

It's going to come down to G1 again - we have Lester vs NOT JV nor MS, at home, w/ rest....you can not allow the Tigers to steal that game

Then we gotta win 3 of 6 but be warned, Games 6 and 7 will feature MS and JV w/o anything from Lester so you do not want to put yourself in a position where you have to win BOTH of those games........

Yes the pen is vulernable but also remember that the V-Man can pitch all night if he has to so working his NP won't work in this case......

Be ready to bust the bats open in G1 and hope Lester can come up big again and then from there Farrell and team have their work cut out for them regarding strategy........

Andrew....as we know Lester is going in Game 1.....after that I think Farrel is going to change what he did versus Tampa....this time I think Peavy goes in Game 2, Lackey in Game 3 (he has good success at Comerica and then Buch in Game 4....Lester again in Game 5, and with the day offm Game 6 and Game 7 are decided based on if the Sox are up or down in Game 6...because basically those games could be all hands on deck games......if we can win the 1st 2 at Home....I say Lester closes it out in Game 5.

I'm assuming these pitching match-ups, so I may tweak as things change...

    1) Lester vs Sanchez  Boston 5-2

    2) Peavy vs Scherzer  Detroit 3-2

    off

    3) Buch vs Verlander  Boston 4-3

    4) Lackey vs Fister  Detroit 7-6

    5) Lester vs Sanchez  Boston 6-4

    off

    6) Peavy vs Scherzer Boston 6-2

As I had said I see Lackey before Buch, because he has had more success than Buch at Comerica....but you could be right Moon, if we are up 2-0 Farrell may treat Game 3 against Verlander as a game we may only score 1-2 runs and while Lackey has been steady, Buch probaby has the better chance of pitching a shutout type game.

Lackey twice?  He's not pitching well, that's stupid.

Peavy with 2 wins and sweeps Scherzer. Put down the water pipe.

I am pretty sure Moon is saying Peavy wins one of two. He has Detroit winning game 2.

Sox in 6. Sox will win at home and take one from Detroit.

Unless it is already published, it will be interesting if Peavy pitches the second game. They are probably going to follow the Lester - Lackey formula because of Lackey's success (ERA) in Fenway.

Re: Bring on the Tigers! Predictions?

Sox can do it, but it is arguably too close to call... The breaks will be a significant factor.. Sox willhave to  outpitch them...main concern is their RH starters, we must realize JF will not platoon Napoli, it also means less action for Gomes... I would prefer to platoon Nap and Carp and play Gomes over Nava... Pedie hitting third is  another handicap...if we could get to their pen early it would be just great...in sum, Ells Papi, Carp, Salty and Drew must swing well... Our four starters and Bres and Koji, our bigest weapon.

    A series to be remembered...

    GO SOX
