Bud Selig - The New Format favors the Team with the Worse Record

With the inclusion of the Wild Card Game, they "had to" change the format of the Division Series to where the team with the home field advantage plays the first two on the road and the last three at home. There are many problems with this. To name a few:

    1. The team with the home field advantage isn't guaranteed 2 home games, whereas the supposed team without home field advantage is.

    2. A big case in point, the Tigers and A's. The Tigers have won the first two at home and now the A's must win three straight and have to do so against Verlander in game 5.

If the A's had the first two at home, Verlander would have had to pitch the first game on the road and Douf Pfister would have had to pitch on the road.

The new format is a clear advantage to the team playing the first two at home.

Message to Bud Selig: These guys are big boys, they've played games without travel days all year. They could have kept it as is, play the first two at the park of the team with the home field advantage, take the travel day, play the next to at the other ballpark (a day or late afternoon game), and then fly to the other park without a day of travel.

They could have also started the reason a couple of days earlier.

Here is the dirty little secret of why there has to be a travel day. It has nothing to do with the players travelling, it has everything to do with the Media and Television wanting those added days in the post season.

Exactly true. Poor media doesn't want to travel every other day...poor babies. I still don't understand why the MLBPA doesn't do their OWN HOF. The BBWAA voting for Hall of Fame members is a fking joke.

I know, good team should be able to win anywhere, focus on the game, blah blah blah...

But if Detroit sweeps the A's than the team with homefield advantage played one home game. That doesn't even make sense. Financially a team that has homefield advantage in a series should get more than one home playoff game.
