In response to RedSoxFireman's comment:
Overrated? They have the best record in the AL.
If you want to argue they overachieved, that is one thing. But a team that outperforms even the most optimisitic expectations is not overrated.
In fact, that is pretty much the definition of "underrated"...
Two salient points you missed. Post season defines whether a massive payroll big market team is overrated or not. "Expectations", while subjective, can hardly be realistic when they expect the 2013 labor payroll to be worse than a bubble playoff max 91 win team.
I hope I'm wrong, but that doesn't happen often. I project this Red Sox team roster construction will be exposed in the playoffs, despite the Grade AAA season management performance from John Farrell.
Who cares what his lame prediction was? He always hedges his bets, which are consistently negative with respect to most RS players and this team as a whole.
The fact still remains that he GAVE this team ZERO chance of having a big season. On the other hand, I made the early x + (x + 20) = 162 prediction & stood by all the way. He once argued against it on a thread I can't find. I had them pegged at 91 since pre-season. I was so wrong :) Stiffy has done nothing but slam this team since pre-season.
The best part! He has hated this incredible RS season, which is manifestly obvious with his extended vacation from BDC. He now wants to jump on the bandwagon, desperately claiming ONE TRUE prediction. You gotta love it!!!! How pathetic is this??? :) :) oh oh I once said they should be able to win 88 - 91 with this big payroll............... forget about the fact that I gave them ZERO actual chance to do so in every other thread. LOL You are so pathetic stiffy :)
