    Can We PLEASE Compose Ourselves!

The last few threads I've read have been embarassing! So the Sox are in trouble...is this a shock to anyone who has watched all the games? Is it? No! So let's take a breath and see where we are. There are 16-17 games left, right. We can still win the WC if we win 9-10. No, not guaranteed, but doable. The Rays and Angels have much better pitching and managing, so we're going to have to score our way to the WC. We CAN do it, but only if the RS leaders take over. Who are they? Don't quite know, but Pedey and Jacoby would be a good place to start, and Pappy and AGon can speak with their bats. If we get hot offensively, then Coma won't be given the chance to screw things up too bad. Don't forget: Both Coma and Theo KNOW they're unemployed if we lose the WC or go out in 3 or 4 in the 1st series. And several stars will be on the trading block too. So, let's do our best, root for the guys and hold the final doomsday stuff til early October. I've been tougher on Coma than anyone, but I still love the Sox.

Ellsbury is a leader in pulling off balls to run arbitration clock out.

Team is 90% or more odds to make playoffs. This board is worse than women voting for elected officials. With few exceptions, women are natural Castros who spend like Queens and advocate a public policy of socialism. Social justice is a euphemism for socialism. "Hate" and "tolerance" is bugaboo for censorship of dissent and criticism.

Well your heart was in the right place, I guess. I think the blame for the recent skid has a lot more to do with the starting pitching than it does with Francona. Our starters have been terrible recently. Someone needs to step up.

Also: "several stars will be on the trading block too". If you mean Lackey and Crawford, that's unlikely. Who would want those contracts?

I would rather see the cold streak come before the playoffs.  Yes, you have to make the playoffs, but if you hit the playoffs with the right momentum, you can run to a championship.

There’s nobody to blame but everybody,’’ Ortiz said, channeling his inner Yogi Berra.

Go ahead an continue to be positive. I choose to see this team for what it is, an out of shape team that gets injured far too many times for way too long, an incredibly weak starting pitching staff, Lester has even become mediocre at best, with absolutely nobody behind him, a middle relief core of bomb makers, several overpaid and way under achieveing players (Crawford, Lackey) a Manager who makes a lot of in game mistakes and puts far too much on maintaining friendships with players rather than making hard decisions, a medical staff that may be the worst in baseball and a team heart that just isn't there, as evidenced by this September meltdown that will lead directly to a non-playoff season with the second highest payroll in baseball.

Whatever Fireballer. This teams deserves nothing but negativity, with the exception of Ells. Keep on dissing those of us who are angry as heck at how horrible this team has become, keep on being delusional and saying "we'll be fine" as the Red Sox keep on losing. Couple of questions for you; What should any of us be positive about? At what point do you finally look yourself in the mirror and say "This year's version of the Red Sox was utterly horrendous, a huge disappointment"?

Thank god there's a couple realists here. This team has been ruined by its management from the top down. The ballwashers and the rumpswabs can continue to sing their priases from their seats in la la land, but anyone with half a lick of common sense and credibility is going to see this situation exactly the same way you've stated it. Great post.

It's an "entitlement" mindset that has become pervasive with this team.
Yes, the management bears most of the responsibility, but another glaring fact is that this team lacks intensity and urgency against all teams save the Yankees.
