Actually French Canadians are the largest ethnic group in New England and are more Italians here than Poles. At least no New England has tried to bring back Jim Crow like NC is trying to do in the state house right now.

French Canadians isn't an ethnic group.

    Yes it is.

Where in the Constitution state voting is limited to citizens with photo ID's? This is Jim Crowe part 2.

The original Constitution doesn't even give the right to vote. A few ammendments prohibit discrimination in voting by race, sex, and age, but teh states have a lot of say in how they vote. Disenfranchisemnt has been a part of our politics for many decades.

Cue: a new history lesson by professor softy.

I had a public school teacher who taught me that voting restrictions were illegal.

Whether they are legal or not, tyranny is any law the majority places on minority, they are not subject to themselves. As a libertarian, I feel having a true democratic republic requires enfranchisement or else you have an oligarchy.

    Pros/Cons of this thread.

Pro - While one of the great events of human history, this story is starting to experience overkill. Imagine if we heard about Columbus, Einstein or Newton as often.

Con - Softy's racist funny bone rears its ugly head yet again.

No it isn't. British Canadiens aren't, either.

The pride, the pride, and the prejudice that goes with racial and ethnic class identity. That's why I"m glad the people are finally going to get to learn about the Jackie Robinson story. What MLB has done isn't enough, and they have a long way to go. This is a start.

    Yes it is.

I waited days to view this thread. Had to mentally prepare myself... Wait until the cringing subsided. Title... Author.

In Texas, English Americans is the largest ethnic group.

French Canadian are not nationals of Canada. They are group of people who were forced out of Acadia by the British. The Acadians settle in two places New England, the French Canadians, and Louisana, the Cajuns. The are much more an ethnic group than the Scot Irish, who have no ties to either Scotland or Ireland.
