    Carl Crawford hammy

Carl Crawford said yesterday his hamstring is between 40 and 50%. Anybody else worried about this injury? Grade 1 strain should take about 2 weeks to heal. Thank god Reddick is stepping up because I think Crawford is going to have a lost year in 2011.

Because he is going to be on the DL for more than 15 days it is a lost season? Is Buchholz going to have a lost year also?

Rumor has it that Ellsbury has instructed the player to get a second opinion, and if necessary a third, and begin rehabilitation in Arizona as soon as possible.

Ellsbury's agent Boras has agreed to make the necessary arrangements. Again...... Just a rumor!!!!

"My kingdom for an outfielder who stays healthy for a full season!"

How'd Yastrzemski ever stay healthy so many seasons? Maybe they should ask him?

Actually two weeks would be very fast:

Recommended treatment for this injury consists of the RICE protocol - rest, ice, compression, and elevation.[1] The RICE method is primarily used to reduce bleeding and damage within the muscle tissue. Lower grade strains can easily become worse if the hamstring is not rested properly. Grade one hamstrings should be rested from sporting activity for approximately 3 weeks, and grade two injuries typically require 4 to 6 weeks for recovery. Complete ruptures require surgical repair and rehabilitation for approximately 3 months.

Keep in mind that while three weeks of RICE is typical, Crawford will then need a few days to get back into full playing shape. The 15 day DL would have be very fast and if the RS are conservative with him I don't see the big deal.

The longer Crawford is out the longer it will take to regain his batting stroke.
Also, he'll be cautious on the basepaths to avoid a reoccurance of the hammy strain.

20M is paying huge dividends. This team and the future needed another lefty OF'er. Theo is aways on top of things.

Rumor has it that Crawbury ads have been replaced by Madoff scam public service warning ads.

Maybe because he played first base for a good portion of the latter half of his career and was mostly a DH near the end of it.

I tell you how Yaz stayed healthy - because he was lean and in shape - like a ballplayer should be - not like our Santa's in training who cant seem to make it past mid-season without a bevy of weight-related hammy and back injuries....once again Tito's rigorous spring training regimen karma blows back on us

Great! A cronic hamstring injury on a player, whose main asset is his speed.
Makes this wonderful Zito like contract even worse.
    What a disaster.
