    Carl Crawford's batting stance

Is it just me or does anyone else think Crawford's stance at the plate looks a lot like Bill Hall? An extremely open stance like that leads to a lot of unnecessary movement I think. Not that I'm a scout or could ever hit much, but maybe less movement during the AB would help?

Open stances can be trickly...Most do because they see the ball better...the key is for him is to get himself lined up, keep his weight back, stay loaded as the pitchers is breaking his hands and get his front foot down and put a good swing on it...

I wouldn't use Crawford's stance or swing in a hitting instructional video but he does have a career .294 avg so it seems to work for him

though he was a switch hitter i think Carlos Baerga had a similar stance while batting LH, though he held the bat a bit more vertical than Craw..

Rod Carew had a wide open batting stance.

He was perhaps the best hitter I ever saw.

And he held the bat almost flat...which no batting instructor on Earth would ever suggest....

and how about Youk.  He gets it done with a very unorthodox swing.

I do not care how a player swings the bat--as long as he is helping the team win.
