I'm delighted that being out of shape will not longer be a missing building block to athletic team performance. As far as attitude, that is another matter for Bobby V to deal with, entirely. That will be a challenge and will require getting rid of some current contracts via trade market.

And Dick Williams in 1967 was a great choice.

If the 2004 team had Dick Williams they would not have put up with his bullsh*t.

That only works with a younger, less talented group. A veteran team with skill ( like 2004) would not go for Williams drill sargeant routine. They would revolt and he would have been gone before the All Star game.

Just ask Remy, he played for him and Williams benched him for something stupid.

The old school manager doesn't work in this day of the modern athlete. I am not saying right or wrong, just saying what Walter Cronkite would have said, "That's the way it is."

GOOD POINT ZILLY..........  JUST SAYING THAT THE TIMING OF CHANGE WAS A LOT LIKE WHAT THE 67 TEAM HAD TO GO THROUGH.....  YES, 45 YEARS LATER IT IS A LOT MORE  P C, HOWEVER, THE REFRESHING POINT IS THAT THE BOYS CAN'T COMPLAIN, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT TURNED THE GAME (LAST YEAR) BACK TO THE 1960's........ SO NOW, THEY MUST GRIN & BEAR IT !!!!!

I think Bobby V was the right choice for this team now.  We needed a new direction and attitude and he is giving the Sox this.  Will he be around in 3 years?  Probaby not but I like what is going on so far.

As dad would say: "Son, we're gonna be just fine because the big O says 'yes we can'".

Yeah, it's a good thing the Sox have Bobby V. Now there won't be any baserunning blunders ... well, for example, let's say Pedroia is on second and Cody Ross is on first. The ball is hit into shallow left, not deep enough for Pedey to score so he rounds third and holds up. Now it's a good thing Bobby V is managing and focuses on fundamentals because Ross wouldn't run with his head up his azz and round second and head to third, forcing Pedroia to run into an out at home.

Yeah, that would only happen if Francona was still managing. Now that Bobby V is here and he focuses on details, that couldn't have happened today. NESN must have started showing reruns during the game today.

Well, yes, certainly the boys will be crisper on the bases than they were last year.  But, in the scenario you whipped up, one which brings back painful shades of 2011, we can also thank the Tito to bobby baton pass for taking Timmy Bogar out of the box and into the dugout.  Those were a coupla whacky years.  Made me almost forget Wendell Kim.

Now, no disrespect.  I like the way Tim is running Bobby's camp and looks like he will be a strong bench coach ... just glad he was promoted.
