    Cleveland fires Pitching Coach

Am I missing something? Don and Jerry were commenting on how bad the Indian's pitching has been, but isn't ours nearly as bad? Why is McClure still drawing a paycheck?

Yes Ubaldo was stellar right up to the time the Rockies traded him, surely the Indians pitching coach is to blame. Masterson was a CY Young candidate before Boston traded him, certainly the Indians pitching coach ruined him.

    Derek Lowe? lol.

    Re: Cleveland fires Pitching Coach

Other teams in tough situations do things to attempt to remedy their real or unreal problems.  The Cleveland pitching has been bad so the pitching coach was replaced.  Other teams seem to attempt to 'fix" things that are not working.

The Red Sox of the last 9 years, on the other hand, do not like to admit mistakes (with a few exceptions like Nomar and Manny) so they plod along with whatever is wrong so that it looks like no one made a mistake.  Mistakes are OK, but not trying to fix them looks pretty weak.

The Red Sox pitching has been bad all year and the same pitching coach is still in the dugout.  The team has been bad all year and the same manager is still in the dugout.  The pitcher with the worse ERA in the history of the game in the first inning is still warming up with the same routine every game.  Saltalmacchia still swings and misses at just about every slider thrown to him that is low and in the dirt, etc, etc, etc.

I could live with a down season if it at least looked like some things were being done to make corrections here and there.

Public schools have been following this strategy for 100 years, but I digress..........

Who do ya'll think would be a good long-term solution to the merry-go-round that is the Sox pitching coach position?

It is normally referred to as the Softlaw Curse.

He started a post about how well CL was doing without any pitching, therefore the RS should not care about pitching.

Since then, Cleveland's record is 11-28.

Well, a pitcher doesn't lose 100% of the games he doesn't start.  So, if we stop paying attention to the pitchers, and only watch the innings the Sox score, won't it seem like they win every game with a shutout?
