Comparisons of Burnett and Lackey Need to Be Put to Bed

Any comparison of Burnett vs. Lackey should be put to bed.

Burnett won a World Series with the Yankees and he won a very big game last night.

The Red Sox haven't gotten to the playoffs since they acquired John Lackey.

Agree that Burnett has been better than Lackey.  He has pitched some terrible games, but can be relied upon when it is necessary.  If the Red Sox were in the playoffs, I would imagine that Lackey would have pitched and not been very effective.

Alright, Burnett is better than Lackey. Who cares? The more important thing is how do we avoid having to watch Lackey pitch in a Sox uniform for 2 more seasons.

Agree that trading Lackey should be the # 1 priority during the off season for Theo or his replacement.

Theo should of known that Lackey wasnt worth it when he was the only gm interested in getting him.

I really don't care for either one.  Look at their records.

By far Burnett is a better pitcher than Lackey. Burnett at least has the stuff to have been great although he has not lived up to that billing. AJ should go to national league to become the pitcher the yankess thought he would be for them. Lackey is an average pitcher at best. Your 4th or 5th stater. Always was, and always will be.

I would love to get rid of AJ to the Nat'l League, Yanks would have to pay some of his $ but he would be good over there so I would want value in return.

As bad as Burnett was on many of his starts during the regular season, Lackey was far, far worse. Given the absolute choice of either Burnett or Lackey it is a no-brainer.

Lackey is the same pitcher the Angels had no interest in resigning.     He rolled his eyes then and he still rolls his eyes now at anything that goes wrong.    What didn't Theo see that wasn't fully advertised in L.A. ?

The Lackey we see is as good as he'll ever get.

     That is a depressing thought.

Lackey was absolutely the worst.  Terrible beyond all comprehension.  He was worst than Wakefield.  Terrible.  Terrible.  Terrible.

Remember how Larry Bird was considered a great player not only because of his ability to score and rebound, but because he made others on the team better?

Lackey made others around him worse.
