Hasn't hit more than 32 HR since 2007. Has averaged less than 30 HR in the last 4 years.  Hasn't played 140 games in 3 years.

He's started and finished less than 120 games in 2013, which is fortunate. It reamins to be seen how the mileage on him impacts his 2014 contract costs.

I just like the fact he's leading the team in BA. Did anyone predict that? I think not.

soooooooooo........ You're pointing out a lot of negatives.  Captain i d i o t .....will you just say "I got it wrong when I said this should have been his last year.....he clearly can still hit....and I love the way Bill spoons me at night....."   Just say it m o r o n.....oh...by the way...  I have WAY more money than you.....and you know I do.....

He also isn't even correct. Lackey made more than he did this year.

The real crime is that Carp and Bradley make about the same amount.

    So unfair.

... And worth every penny In my opinion. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching David Ortiz throughout the years. I've simply no regrets about it.

Well he is obviously a troll. I don't think he means anything he says.

Personally I kind of enjoy him though. He doesn't bother me at all.

Congrats David Ortiz! You're the man that some didn't think you would be this season. I'm always amazed when the players who have meant so much, become punching bags a few years later when they may not be playing as well. Thanks for proving them wrong.

Who would have thought Ortiz would still be delivering after a whole decade wearing a Red Sox uniform. He has got to be one of the best Free Agent pickups in the history of Baseball...not just Red Sox history but in all of baseball. Luis Tiant was a pretty good pick up to but David has done more. We have had a pretty good decade...even with the end of 2011 and last years debacle and Ortiz has been a big part of it.

    Re: Congrats- Ortiz 30 HRs

Papi was unbelievable from 2004 to 2007, but this year has been special.

Several clowns wrote him off this spring and projected steep declines or long DL stints after he returned from his April DL stint.

    The numbers don't lie:

30 HRs in 595 PAs. He had 32 in 606 PAs in 2010, but other than that year, this is the most since 35 in 2007.

70 XBHs are the most since 2007.

.960 OPS is the best he's had since 2007 (with over 400 PAs).

103 RBIs are the most since 2007.

.308 BA is over 20 points higher than his career .287 mark.

5.0+ HR% is less than .002 from his career mark of .052.
