Not bad for a part time broken down player with no pop.

Glad Ortiz came back for another two years.  Without him the sox would be lost.

The 2013 Red Sox would be LOST without David Ortiz? Papi is a great DH but the Sox would still be right where they are now without him.

    Seriously?

We are sitting with homefield advantage all the way through the playoffs by a thread.

RSF...there is no way on earth you are a fan of the Boston Red Sox.  T-R-O-L-L.

Congrats to Papi for having another GREAT season at the dish.

Homefield advantage throughout the playoffs is the opposite of we would be lost without him. Perhaps we would not be sittin by a thread but we would have been far from lost without him.

Yeah, the Sox really didn't need a hitter who leads the team in AVG, OBP, SLG and OPS.

The Sox would've either missed the playoffs, or be playing one of these one game nightmares.

I guess one could break it down game by game to see how much of an effect Ortiz had.  Seems they did ok without him at the beginning of the season.  But it was a good signing and no one beats up on bad pitchers better than Ortiz.  That last homer of the season is an example.

Somebody already broke it down for you: Papi did "ecellent" vs the best pitchers combined.

"All the way through the playoffs" presumes that the Red Sox advance all the way through the playoffs. Homefield is grossly overrated, in the playoffs.

    Commas are overrated, too.

Then why did you just use one in your stupid trolling stab. That's not a question.

You figure it out. That's not an answer.

His clown double speak allows him to be "right" no matter what happens.

If the Sox win all their games at home, he will say, "see I told you it's all about the "umps and house", but if they lose, he'll say, "see, I told you home field is over-rated in the playoffs".

I have no doubt ortiz will shine in the post season.  I hope the sox don't have to play the Rays.  Ortiz was just 3-12 against Price with 1 rbi and no homers.  He did a little better against more with one homer and one RBI.  Against the whole Ray's pitching staff, Ortiz managed two homers.

He may face a lefty (Price & Moore) in 3 games, possibly 4.

Teddy Ballgame and Big Papi, the only two men to put up 7 30/100 seasons in a Sox uniform.

We can debate Papi's value to this incredibly balanced 2013 team effort, but there is no debating his place in Red Sox history.

his number will go up on the wall.  he will be on the red sox payroll for the rest of his life.

    Well said.

His playoff heroics are just icing on the cake.
