I thought he did a great job! If the manager took him out, like I said in previous posts, he should know best. No egos. Go with the flow! The end is what counts, and EVERYONE has contributed this year. That's why I love this team, they're all heroes on any given night. Just amazing.

    B- and that isn't a knock. 5 1/3 innings doesn't get you an 'A'

So Hellickson gets a Z- despite only allowing 1 hit and no runs?

Peavy post game: He felt strong enough to have pitched a complete game, didn't want to come out but have to do what you're told.

Does that make it a "B"?

Good job, but I would not go overboard with the praise. A lot of hard hit balls. A lot of long fly balls. He did well , but Farrell was right to get him out of there in time.

B for me, we were going to use a lot of bullpen specialist either way. He kept us close in a very hectic game to start off, something other #4 pitchers would not have accomplished. Look at the Dodgers so desperate they went back to Kershaw. What Peavy gave us against a scrappy Rays team was awesome. He will be very valuable in the ALCS!

Heck, he only gave up one hit, one walk, and one run in one of the biggest games in Red Sox history.  I'd have given him an A+ even if he were pitching on 4 days of rest.  I was being sarcastic earlier to Burrito, who exists in a time capsule when it comes to starting pitching expectations.

If that is a regular season game, Farrell would have left him for the whole game.  But this is a post season game, and Farrell just wanted to manage the game like he do not want to go back to Boston for game #5.

So Peavy did a fantastic job.  He deserve to get A.  Same with Breslow!!

Rays offense will make a lot of starting pitchers look better than they appear on your screen. Peavy was chased after 5.2 IP, which was less than the 6 innings this hybernating rested starter needed to go against the impotent offense of the Rays.

    I give Peavy's agent an A++++++++++++++++

    I give Peavy's performance a C

I give Peavy's costs and trade value an F

Where's his twin, 13.25 million dollar twin, Dumpster? Is Dumpster fishing during the playoffs?

    And Evan Longoria

    I give Longoria's agent a F

    I give Longoria's performance a F

    I give Longoria's cost and trade value a F.

Isn't this what you thought the proponents of the Peavey trade would do , if he failed?

    Downplay it?

Hey Dufus.....  The Rays had the 11th most runs, 12 best team AVG. and 7th best OPS. (your favorite stat) in ALL OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL this past season....

You really need to research before you spread your manure all over the place here.  Why not be happy they won and are moving on instead of being a complete d!ck all of the time??  Give it shot.....

Peavy gets an A.  it would have been an A+ if it was game 5.

i dont care if it is a 400' flyout or a 80' 5-3 groundout.  the kid was dealing.  0, zer0, 0, none, nada walks.  no free gifts.

he was only at 74 pitches and could have easily pitched at leas two more innings but you darn well knew that JF was going to be cautious and over-manage after what went down in game 3.

    5-2/3 IP, 3k, 0BB, 5 hits, 1 ER, <1.00 whip, 2 induced DP's = "A"

Equating Peavy with Dempster exposes your total disregard for facts and truth.

It's not even close, except for the contracts.
