OK, OK. He got his 3000th hit on a home run. He went 5 for 5. He drove in the winning run.
But no triples, so he didn't hit for the cycle. And although I didn't watch the game, I'm sure there was a ball either hit up the middle or on the left side of the infield that another shortstop would have gotten to. That in and of itself negates all of his great accomplishments for the day. So take that, Yankee fans!

It astonishes me the disrespect this guy gets from some "baseball fans"....I think when Nomar showed his colors from the dugout the night Jeter went in the seats ("any other shortstop would have been camped out under it and would not have gone into the seats"), making his statement to Sox management, the "Nomar or jeter?" debate was over. Nomar was exposed. Some have not gotten over that, and now they are after Jeter. -

to be totally honest,
jeter, posada, rivera all would have been loved as Red Sox. lots of respect for them. that said, good work by jeter. much like manning, we hate him bc he is good unlike lebron who we hate bc he is a moron.
really tho, this is a yankee party so us Sox fans really dont care much.
just like Ray Allen breaking the 3pt record was a Celtics party (sonics [thunder] and milwawkee too).

Just a thought, as I live in Michigan (and Im a Boston Boy), if Jeter played for the Tigers, what would his accomplishments be? I can't tell you, but im betting without the great ball players around him, he would not have 3,000 hits! This says something for the great Yankee's organization. Then again I think Jete is no question a Hall Guy! Here's to Jeter a Michigan Boy!
