I figured this would be an amusing place to visit right now. The Tigers deserved to win, and could win it all. The Yankees had a collection of very expensive goats: Teix, ARod, Sabathia, and so on. -

Of course. VMART's .222 DH batting average went a long way in helping the cause.
His "verstatility" is as strong as your grammar. -

A bitter Harnut, captiously clinging to a typo and a BA in a 5 game series. VMart with game winning RBI hit. Great guy and still in his early 30's. -

A false sense of congratulations when you bring VMART into the title and don't acknowledge the fact the Tigers won in spite of his poor BA.
What VMART did this year means nothing once the PO's start.
A .222 performance as the team DH is what's pertinent.
You would have said the same thing if the Sox had gotten in and won, but Jake hit similar. And you damn well know it. -

BA in a 5 game series is virtually meaningless. Boils down to 2 RBI's and 1 HR and a clutch hit in a 5 game series. I'd say that VMart earned a congratulations for a great season and big upset over the Yankees.
But take heart, Varitek is busy chasing women. -

VMART: .222 BA .300 OPS .389 SLG.
Oh my, these are just riveting numbers for the high-paid DH. -

To say nothing of Adrian Beltre and his Rangers. Beltre had a great series vs. Tampa Bay. -

Victor was one of my favorite players. Seems like a classy guy. Too bad it didn't work out that he stayed in Boston.
As for another "lost season" in NY (such arrogance!), I'll just add this:
IT NEVER GETS OLD WATCHING THEM LOSE. -

They sure did. Many missed opportunities from many over priced players. Kind of sounds like what we suffered through during the last month of the series. -

This is only Adrian Beltre's second appearance in the postseason in his 14-year career (and his first since 2004). -

Small sample. Let's wait and see what happens against Texas.
Honestly Harness, I just don't understand the comtempt for Victor. -

It was tough they had Ortiz at DH under contract and he had a great year. It would have been interest if they both were FA's this year who would the sox go with at DH. -

VMart led the entire AL this year in BA with runners in scoring postion didn't he? I think a .392. -

Yes, and though it i a hindsight scenerio it would have been prudent to let Ortiz walk, and keep VMart as a DH/CA. -

I don't think they should feel like the Lone Ranger i.e. Crawford, Lackey, Drew & Agon & Ortiz (Youkilis too but he was hurt) in Sept during clutch games with Yankees & Rays!!!
Irrespective of VMart's mediocre BA, I'd rather have had him instead of Tek & Salty(would have been a good backup & let Tek walk/coach etc). Beltre too I'd have loved at 3rd. Youkilis could have subbed at 3rd & 1st for AGon & been a DH too. -

Theo has a love affair with Salty. He needed to replace the one he had for Drew now that he's gone.
