Could Navarro playing tonight be a showcase for a trade?

Why would Francona keep Navarro in the lineup, even after Youk ends up playing? Although Tito claims it was because they want to see Navarro against a lefty, Navarro might be playing tonight because some teams want to evaluate him further in the days and hours leading up to the trade deadline.

Sensible conclusion.  I am sure there will be scouts at the game.

And let's face it, Monday's disaster aside, our team could probably beat KC with a full AAA lineup anyway.

Disagree. KC has a lot of really good young players.  This is not the Royals of April.

Navarro's a pretty big chip--could be enough to get Reyes.  Or maybe someone's fourth best lefty reliever at the AA level.

Nobody wants Navarro. He's a .180 hitter at the Major League level. If anything, someone wants Reddick, but why trade a productive RF for a RF? Or trade a RF for a pitcher and be left with.......DMac?

I could see both Navarro and McD on the way out although Nav could be a valuable platoon player for us at some point if he begins to hit.

    Navarro's minor league seasonal OPS':

    2006: .782
    2007: .766
    2008: .806
    2009: .702
    2010: .793
    2011: .831

This from someone who was a good defensive shortstop, who was forced to move around the diamond because of Iggy.  If given consistent AB's at the MLB level, he will hit.  He's always hit in the minors and he's only 23.

Then again, maybe it is exactly as Tito said. Maybe they just want to give the kid a chance to get some hits and they play him against a lefty. I hope he is showcasing for a trade but I doubt it.

They probably wanted to Reddick a little rest also.

Man, look at our 1,2,3 in the lineup. The first 2 are hot as a fire cracker, then Adrian and we go on to Youk, Ortiz and a red hot Reddick. They have a tremendous lineup and all the good ones look to be there for a while.
