3 hours ago reporters were told the team would be making a statement shortly...guess we'll see tomorrow.

This is turning into one of the biggest debacles the Sox have ever signed. Overpaid to begin with, and now has lost the 2 seasons that people could reasonably expect good numbers from. Terrible.

How does one get injured like this without even playing?

At least we can't blame this on a player who is lazy and out of shape. CC works harder than anyone in MLB. He stays in great shape 365 days a year. I wish him well.

    Cue: softy bashing.

    My question, too.

I do feel better about the Sox's ability to ride that injury out better than in years past.  With Byrd, Sweeney and Ross (and one hopes Kalish at some point, too) and Ellsbury due back some time around June, I suspect the Sox will do ok.  Crawford added little to the offense last year, certainly nothing more than Byrd can provide.  And Ross/Sweeney are providing so much more than Drew/McDonald/Reddick.  So if Ells can return and put up decent numbers in 4 or 5 weeks, the Sox OF should be in good hands til Crawford can come back.

Here's hoping he comes back fresh and ready to be the impact player most all of us expected to see when he signed.

Epstein should really feel shame..  Even the player he sent him to the Sox for his early departure compensation is on DL also... There's gotta be some sort of curse for breaking the bambino curse...

dragon the red sox did make a statement...Crawford has been shut down from all baseball activities;there is no timetable for his return. The three month time table was reported by Nick Cafardo saying he COULD miss three months but although that may be possible doesn't mean its probable. Remy said last night it could be June. as with Ellsbury only time will tell. Sean McAdams reported two months, 3 total including the time he's missed in April.

Like I said it before, he must starting to have these kind of physical problems when he was with the Rays team.  Since he is not a pitcher, I do not think the Red Sox team doctor didnt pay attention to the elbow issue as well maybe to the wrist problem before he passed the physical test and signing a big fat contract.

Well, like Henry stated it before, he never wanted him.   He was right.  Theo should have listen to him!!!

    The guy is injured.

No one could have known the guy would get injured.

It's okay to jump on him for a bad year last year but he is hurt.  That is not his fault or Epsteins fault.  Bad signing yes...but not because he is injured.

    Wow.

Lackey and Crawford, $35 mil or so of zombie salaries. Neither can stand the pressure cooker of playing in Boston. Theo thought some much of this dynamic duo perhaps he'd be interested in acquiring both for the Cubs. Of course the Sox would have to eat much of these 2 stiffs salaries.

It would be nice that if a player misses 50% or more of a season they get their salary cut 50%. That money goes to charity of course because the team was dumb enough to sign him.... they deserve to lose it.
